'20 AL DE Jimari Butler (Nebraska commit)

I don't think people understand how the real world of recruiting and developing players works. This is kid may be raw and at 210 might concern you but we're not always looking for someone to make an impact the next season. Would it be nice? Yes, but realistically most freshman aren't producing at a high level. They're going to take this very athletic kid, and put about 30-40 pounds on him over two years while working on his technique and football knowledge. So by the time he is a RS SO or JR he'll actually contribute positively on the field.

Having 5 stars just means that overall consensus is that the recruit is the most college "ready" to produce. 4 stars falls in between of needing a year to may be able to be a factor. 3 stars usually means they need a year or two. But all of those rankings are subjective and obviously the recruit can over/underperform

You're a..Tad...behind the other dumbasses..😉

Welcome to Ignoreland...the park is getting full and the toilets are down because so many arseholes are taking a dump today. Make sure and stop by and get a bite to eat at the Eat Shite and Die Emporium..Your character breakfast tomorrow features everyones favorite dumbass Bruin...YAY! 😁
This might be your best work. Lol

I really like this pick up by UT. It kind of came out of nowhere according to those close to him I spoke with this evening. I went to see him recently, I spoke with him, and at that time, Tennessee was just a school in the pack with a decision not expected until December. The Vols turned this one quickly.

On him as a player, I really like the upside. He is lean, very lean, and he will need some time to add mass to his frame, build up his football strength and continue to develop his technique to be a full-time contributor in the SEC, but he is an athlete with great length, agility and quickness. He came out in the spring after stopping football in middle school to focus on basketball, so just the last 6-7 months have changed his life.

Butler is an upside guy. He will be a pass rush specialist type early and UT's staff build his body up, develops his on the field play against the run and makes him a DE who can rush the QB and play the run.

Again, a very good get here for Pruitt.

Chad Simmons

Reminds me of current NFL rookie Maxx Crosby. A little lean but relentless. Gotta add that weight. A lot bigger frame than Ojulari.

To many people here have been acting like little girls since Hardy committed to Auburn. No, this kid will probably not contribute immediately, but realisticly only a few freshmen will every year. But after CJP got to see #24 Lewis for Bama being completely unblockable first hand, he could probably envision this kid having the raw skills to develop into a similar player. Josh Allen of Kentucky was of similar size and athletic make up his senior year of high school. This kid could be a terror by the time he's a redshirt sophomore.

These threads.
"This isn't gonna cut it against Alabama in recruiting!" Haha.

Meanwhile, we out here playing catch-up in our series with the mighty Vanderbilt...and these goobs in here looking down their noses. My goodness.

Anyway, good looking quickness, like where he's at to be so new to the game. Welcome to TN, my man.

To be fair, let's remember this young man projects at a different position than Hardy in the long run. With his size, Hardy is a 3-4 DE, and we need DL to run the 3-4 effectively. I'm not disappointed with this pick up. I agree he's a project, but I trust whatever the staff sees in him. But I can still be disappointed at losing out on Hardy without making a comparison with this pick up. We need more 3-4 DL in this class.

Welcome MR Butler .....I could argue UT’s 2019 recruiting class is as good as anybody’s in the SEC. Henry T, W Morris, D Wright, W Burrell, E Gray, R Keyton, R Harrison, B Maurer... all playing and contributing and I am sure I have forgotten some. This class is on the brink of doing some great things. This staff is looking for thirsty and hungry young men that won’t quit when they don’t get their way. See previous staff who signed more skill players than linemen

6'5 is good, but 210 ain't. Is he one of those hidden gems Pruitt is good at finding tho.
He has the frame redshirt him and a year in the strength and condition and all the food he can eat he will put on 40 to 60 lbs easy.

That’s some impressive film

He really looks like the type of DE you'd see at TCU. I'm still having memories of that tall drink of water UAB threw out against us. Just too damned quick for our guys to handle at times. Best of all...Auburn doesn't seem interested in having him visit.
