AJ Johnson/Michael Williams Case (merged)

So wrong. No means no and a drunk young lady does not make it open season for taking advantage of even if you are drunk. Period.

Seriously, you're already on the internet, some of you need to google grand jury and learn that a grand jury indictment has nothing to do with guilt or innocence.

If there was video evidence that the alleged rape and sexual assault was fully a consensual affair, and said evidence is in possession of the Police there would have been no indictment or arrest of AJ or Williams. Such evidence would have kept the prosecution from going to a GJ and seeking changes. So if there is a video it's likely to be very harmful to AJ's defense.

I do not understand why AJ can not get the benefit of the doubt..

This is america..innocent until proven otherwise?

But so many want to condemn over an arrest.

Sorry but I have been arrested over women making false allegations.

I could go make a police report on any person in this forum and have them arrested today..does not make it true that they did anything, yet people's reputations are destroyed...just sayin

women is plural.....allegations is plural......lots of 'benefit of doubt' already going on in your life already it appears...

There is a reason its going to a grand jury. I don't hate it for AJ, I hate it for the girl.

Because it's far easier for a prosecutor to take it to a grand jury than it is for him to take it to an actual trial.

You've already determined guilt, so I see no need to argue with you. If AJ did it, I feel sorry for the girl. If AJ is innocent, I feel sorry for him.

You make a very strong assumption that she said "no". I agree if she says "no" it's no. But often they aren't saying no or its a "he said she said" situation. You can't send someone to prison for rape based on that. Girls have got to be protective of themselves. Don't go to guys rooms or bring guys to their rooms after a night of drinking. Plain and simple.

On the flip side, if a video proving guilt actually existed, the prosecutor would have skipped the GJ and filed formal charges. So did this video magically appear after the GJ process had already started?

NFL rescinds AJ's combine invitation. The man hasn't even had his day in court.

A.J. Johnson's NFL combine invitation is rescinded | AL.com

Nope but he was indicted and arrested for Rape! Meaning there was probable cause that he committed the crime, meaning more likely than not he committed the crime as charged.

He is due his day in court, but he's certainly not entitled to a career in the NFL even if he's later found to be not guilty of the charges. That's a privilege not a right.

He can be acquitted of the charges, thus, not finding him NOT guilty. If that means he's innocent to you then so be it.

Or he could actually be innocent. Oh wait, I forgot, no one has ever falsely been accused of anything, ever.

Unless you were in the room, you have no idea what happenned and under what circumstances.

I have no idea where it started or the details but I have read on here multiple times there there is a video of the incident.

Going to a GJ is how a prosecutor gets formal charges. Are you talking about why the Police didn't make an arrest first and then go to a GJ for and indictment as is the case in most? If so I'm guessing that it was in an abundance of caution as this is such a high profile case they wanted the DA to review the all facts and circumstances involved and then make the decision to proceed. That's what I would do if I were investigating this case.

Why are so many on here ready to rush to judgement? Let the judicial process play out. I'm not saying AJ is innocent, I'm not saying he's guilty. I'm saying I don't know, and none of you do either.

Don't put yourself in bad situations. At best, AJ is dealing with false accusations. He maybe entirely innocent but he will never get back his good name in some people's eyes. At worst he did rape the girl and deserves to be put under the prison. But all of that is because of a person putting themselves in a bad situation with a girl that he didn't know.

If by "here" you mean Vol Nation, you really need to take it with a grain of salt.

I do take it with a grain of salt, I was merely discussing if it did exist. I honestly don't believe the police have such evidence in their possession, but we will have to wait until it comes out at trial.

Is that TN state law that a prosecutor has to use a GJ? That's not how it works in every state, so I'm asking if that is specific to TN?

I'm not a lawyer, so I won't pretend expertise, but not every state requires a prosecutor to take a case to the GJ.

Bottom line is even if he is proven innocent we still wont know what happened. AJ and the girl both put themselves in a bad situation, intoxicated and with someone you don't know at that time of night is just a bad idea for both sides.

Where's SDV? He's a lawyer and he's practiced in TN, so he should know the procedures.
