Ainge Today - getting excited

TBH Fields was better then Fromm, & Burrow was better then Haskins. OSU & UGA were playoff teams with or without Fromm & Haskins
What makes you say Fields was better than Fromm ? Sure he was a better athlete and that will get him by for a little while. Although he didnt accomplish anything in college that Fromm didn't. I would say Fromm accomplished more. Forced Fields to transfer. Burrow I will agree with was better but Haskins was pretty solid for OSU also.

No amount of coaching could fix what was wrong with jg. He was a good thrower, but his ability to process information was not fast enough to play the college game. That’s why he looked so good in practice and camps, but he just couldn’t do it games.

Maybe

But until he gets quality coaching we wont know.

I for one am pulling for him to get that coaching and light it up out west.

Dang it!!! I told myself I would not get too high on this team. That I would set low expectations.

Welp.

This team is talented. The coaches know how to coach. The offense will be fast and fun - kinda like when Bray used to sling it all over the yard, but more consistent in this offense.

I just don't want to be hurt again. UGH.
You won't be alone.. I'm with you

‎The Erik Ainge Show: The EA Show - Hour #1 (8.16.21) on Apple Podcasts

Listen to Ainge today starting at 12 minute mark. He watched all of practice this weekend and he’s super excited about the team

- Milton is the best looking QB he’s ever seen here at TN
- teammates are holding each other accountable and picking each other up
- feels better about depth at all positions…”they all look the part”
- competition is great…players fighting each other then picking each other up
- this is going to be the easiest TN team to root for in his lifetime
- coaches are hard and intense but patient. They’re actually teaching
- he’s tempering his expectations for Milton but when he throws it’s not normal. Every single human out there watches him when he throws
- only concern for Milton is when he throws a 6 yard slant it might go off the WR hands and to the other team
- Milton threw a ball to Hyatt 65 yards in air right in bread basket…the DB had stopped (Willy didn’t like that) because it was so far

- said as he’s learned more he understands why those players transferred to OK…he said Pruitt personally told individuals they were Effing terrible. That’s just one example of the things Pruitt said
- he’s very impressed with how Heupel is building this team up but simultaneously putting more demands on them
- not at 8-4 yet but trending that direction, but regardless they’re doing it all the right way…team is going to be fun to root for
Well I’m glad he came back and tempered expectations because the way that started out I was thinking he had us beating Bama lol

Seriously, how many camp QB’s flame out because they’re a fish out of water when it comes to college level defenses?

Plus, if Milton was so great, why didn’t he light it up at his previous school? I hope he kicks ass, but let’s see him play a game before crowning him the Heisman.

Milton was doing pretty well until he got injured.

Bro thats bs, Fromm wasnt a better QB then Fields. He wasnt just a better athlete he was a better overall player. 1 was a 1st round draft pick and the other was a 5th. That means there is a talent gap between the 2. I live in the exact same town Fromm played high school at and I saw him in person plenty of times. Also so Fields and he had the better arm talent. Eason was also a better prospect then Jake. The reason Kirby stuck with Fromm is bc he flipped from Bama to UGA when Kirby got the job. That was his guy, & his guy was a game manager. There are 100's of QB's that could have accomplished the same thing at Georgia. That team accomplished what it did bc of a top 10 nationally ranked defense, multiple NFL olineman, & that run game (Chubbs, Sony, & Swift). They averaged 176 yards passing with Jake in their most successful season. That was with Ridley, Hardeman, & Nauta. OSU averaged 260 passing with Fields. Fromm threw 24 TD's in 15 games ( 2017). Fields threw 22 & ran for another 5 in 8 games last year. If Kirby had went with Fields from the jump he might have him a Natty or 2

Jim Chaney is a pretty good coach…

As was Jeremy Pruitt..until they werent

All i know is the last few seasons this team was woefully unprepared more often than not. And i struggle to understand why every position was pooy coached according to some posters EXCEPT the qb.

JG may be the head case many claim. I dont know him so i cant say. What i do know is he was on one of the most poorly coached teams i have seen at the D1 level.

So just like i dont believe Dobbs was the only reason the CBJ teams one, i dont believe that Jarrett is the only reason CJPs teams lost.

Some of yall cant take your eye off the football long enough to realize there are 10 other players on offense that have to execute their jobs also.

So you would say Fromm fit the system better at UGA at that time right ? Considering he was the starter and what Georgia truly wanted to do... which was play great defense and run the football throwing enough to keep the defense honest ? Both made the playoffs as a starter. 1 transferred the other didnt. Seems to me he trusted Fromm more. Fields might be more talented physically but didn't make him the better Qb for that situation. That is all im saying. Fields found the situation that was best for him. So did Burrow.

Bashing Ainge for his opinion on current players based off of his opinions of current players is foolish.

I think if someone showed bad QB evaluation in a previous instance, it would be "foolish" to think it couldn't ever happen again from that person. That said, there are many other data points on Milton and I think Ainge is probably right here. But his total miss on JG is not irrelevant, like Remy said.

I'm pretty sure Ainge was reasonably complimentary of Bailey and Maurer also. It's actually not his job to diss the players at UT.

If Bailey and Maurer never play another snap at UT or get very limited time, is Ainge suspect for having not ragged on them?

What exactly do you want a UT sports analyst and former UT QB to say? "This QB sucks. I can't believe we're starting this guy......." Really? What do you want him to say about JG when he knows Pruitt is sold on him and going to start him?

True. Can't talk down at your own legacy.
