Grass isn't always greener. He was just always looking to leave it seemed, though, so maybe better for both parties. He just chose the wrong spot, perhaps.2 points, 3 rebounds, limited playing time. Not exactly an impact transfer. Not sure the NIL will offset the difference he would have made either in Europe or possibly the NBA if he stayed at UT.
That’s a good point. Cal’s players tend to go out about the same as they went in. Often that’s as projected lottery picks, but other than exposure, there’s not historically been a ton of developmental success stories on his teams. If Cal can get anything out of him more than Barnes was able to, I’ll be shocked and impressed.
Most of his offensive presence in the paint was of the rebounding sort although I thought he was capable of some put back buckets from time to time. What I liked about him the most was his strength and he never backed down from a challenge although obviously his tendency to be foul prone hurt his development imo.Awaka, not Aidoo, was the transfer that will sting us. Man, we could use him so badly as an offensive presence in the paint.

Right or wrong, I'll remember him for the stuff he pulled before finally leaving and folding like a lawn chair in the Elite 8.Wish Aidoo well and hopefully he’ll respond to a new atmosphere. I’ve just never seen someone react to the pressure and challenge of a game/player like Jonas did. I just remember saying out loud in the Purdue game after 5 minutes…”Coach Barnes, you’ve got to get him out of this game. He has lost it”. So I hope he can somehow recover from that CLEAR overwhelming trauma he displayed in that game. I THINK Volnation will remember him fondly although being dishonest with Rick the day before he entered the portal. I think at that point he was struggling emotionally with what had transpired.
