Of course he did. Credit definitely due there. But the other half to that is do we ever see him if not for the injury?
Point being is not one QB that JH has brought to UT has been great. Lots of misses. And yes I understand stars don’t always equal a successful player. But we sure do have a funny way of bringing in highly coveted players and getting nothing out of them, especially on offense.
I sure hope that changes in 2026.
The answer is we don't know. All we do know is it went down the way it did. Everything else is nothing but speculation.
I have another question for you. Do you apply the same standards to other top programs in regard to QBs?
Ohio State
2025-Julian Sayin(Transfer)
2024-Will Howard(Transfer)
2023-Kyle McCord-One year starter who transferred when Howard came in.
Ryan Day was the QB Coach prior to becoming HC.
Alabama
2025-Ty Simpson(Recruited by Saban)
2024-Jalen Milroe(Recruited by Saban)
These are the only two starting QBs under DeBoer. Austin Mack was brought over from Washington and has ridden the bench.
Indiana
2025-Fernando Mendoza(Transfer)
2024-Kurtis Rourke(Transfer)
These are the only two starting QBs under Cignetti.
Texas
2025-Arch Manning(First year starter. Results have been at least mildly disappointing)
2024-Quinn Ewers(Transfer)
2023-Quinn Ewers(Transfer)
2022-Quinn Ewers(Transfer)
2021-Casey Thompson(Not recruited by Sarkisian)
Oregon
2025-Dante Moore(Transfer)
2024-Dillon Gabriel(Transfer)
2023-Bo Nix(Transfer)
2022-Bo Nix(Transfer)
These are the only starting QBs under Lanning
Ole Miss
2025-Austin Simmons(Injured/lost his starting job)
2025-Trinidad Chambliss(Transfer)
2024-Jaxson Dart(Transfer)
2023-Jaxson Dart(Transfer)
2022-Jaxson Dart(Transfer)
2021-Matt Corral(Not recruited by Kiffin)
2020-Matt Corral(Not recruited by Kiffin)
These are just some examples. I think the only top program who recruits and develops their HS QBs consistently is Georgia and they aren't exactly dependent on their QB for their team success.
