Aguilar eligibility update

"The problem with the NFL" is quite a rich way to put it. For every Brady from the 6th round there's MANY MANY MANY 6th round QBs you never have heard of.

That's a problem? That sounds like a working strategy to me. Most 6th round guys never go on to be Tom Brady but when one does..... you pronounce the system flawed because it missed one.

Geez.
May want to work on your reading comprehension, I AM saying the flaw with the NFL is they put too much weight on the traits and THAT'S what allows QB's like Brady to slip. Not sure where you got that from what I said but you go.

Rarely do they miss. Most 6th round QBs are never a factor in the NFL. That's my point.

Later round QBs MOSTLY flame out after a year or 2, at most, but you'll point to the few that are big successes anyway as "proof" the system is flawed.

It isn't. NFL scouting might not have uncovered Brady but they damn sure recognized he should stay in the league, even as a backup, because they know what they need.

Time to move on from Joey Aguillar, tough competitor, bad fundamentals, prone to throw off his back foot, Heupel can't develop a young quarterback, back to the portal

Joey was what we needed for the moment. I’d rather go with youth next season than have Diego back at Vandy b/c he won the lawsuit.

In the next installment of "As the eligibility turns," this FSU QB wants another year of eligibility because he only played 5 games at UCF one year.

I don't know how that will work out but you can see this is just the continual erosion of any "you only get X years to play in college" rules. Get ready for it because someone, possibly Joey A and Pavia in their lawsuit, will break whatever limits the NCAA tries to put on eligibility.

Problem is, as I recall, that his arm strength was questioned when we got him, and that story has stuck, as BS will, even when shown to be incorrect.
He also was short with his throws on a number of passes this year and at least 4 were intercepted..Cost us a couple of games.

He's got good arm strength when he can get his feet under him, like most QBs. he isn't a natural like Nico or Milton who can just throw a ball 50 yards with the flick of a wrist.

Sorry I have not kept up. Are you saying that Diego can still have another year in 2026?
IMO, Diego should not get another year and his situation is different than Joey's.

Diego played two at NMSU and two at Vandy after his JUCO year. He's already expended his four years of D1 eligibility. JA has only had three years of D1.

Same here. Appreciate his time here, and he had some very good games, but I'm ready to roll with one of the freshmen knowing that might lead to another 8-4 season.

What if it leads to a worse season? None of those QBs that are currently on the team are the future. They just aren't.

lol. We don’t need that many transfers.
Yep, and Vandy had finished near or at the bottom of recruiting in the SEC for last 5 years is why they needed so many 2 & 3 star 4& 5 year portal experience. The guy on the radio I was listening to after walking out of the game said Vandy had 41 players on their team that started their college career at other schools. That would have never happened 20 years ago because they had high standards to get in but it looks like they have dropped them for athletics.

No they haven't dropped their standards. Many of them already graduated and had adequate grades to qualify for grad school.

Vandy never had the standards many people believe. They just used that as an excuse for being bad. I lived in Nashville for 60 years and just moved to be near grandkids. I am very familiar with the standards of entrance into Vanderbilt for regular students and athletes. If Vandy wanted you in, you got in, that goes for regular students and athletes.

Add to it the DEI fulfillment as well.
