if you were having a bad night would you be all happy and cheerful...doubt it...he was peeved at his dismal performance...off night...it happens...and,

GO VOLS...RECRUIT LIKE HECK!

Me Me Me.. I am afraid he is letting success go to his head. He seems to be loosing Team Team Team. As I stated in a thread above. I things are not going his way,,,,,, play on.

That last shot in regulation should absolutely have gone to admiral. Williams shot an obviously contested 3 when Admiral was unguarded. Maybe he would have missed, but even if he did you leave zeros on the clock. For some reason I feel he would have hit it.

Also, just a bad move by Grant to try to take over right there. Grant and Admiral are successful because of each other...feed your teammate. That’s probably the only mistake Grant made all night, so I guess you give him a pass on it. Also, no way we come out of that with a W without #2.

That may have been what was "set up" in the time out. He may have been told to shoot the ball, not try to pass it off. He takes the shot, it goes in, or he gets fouled, or if these things don't happen,,, overtime. At least we will get a shot off where trying to move the ball many bad things could happen.

Heh - I saw where some wag in the 2nd half of the game thread posted a single word... 'Badmiral'.

Admiral was dissatisfied with his performance and it showed on his face. He looked happy enough at games end, though. He'll be fine.

"It showed on his face" It also showed in his play....

This thread started with one word “Admiral” so I’ll finish it.

Admiral.....will go down as one of the greatest players in Tennessee history. A great player, a teammate who made everyone on the court play better, and a true leader on the floor. His ability to play and defend all 5 positions is an exceedingly rare talent. His ability to take over a game when his team needs him is second to none. Long after his playing days at Tennessee are over, we will all remember THE ADMIRAL...a true VFL who gave his all for Tennessee every moment he was on campus, under the lights on game day and alone in the gym. A true competitor who hated to lose, and forced wins to happen by pure will. If a banner is hanging in the rafters at Thompson-Boling Arena next season, the Admiral should probably have permission to pull it down and use it as his personal blanket any time he wishes.

Nothing personal to the OP, but start a thread with just a player’s name....finish it like that it.

Last night was his worst game since the NC State game last year. And that was part of an overall slow start to the season. After that there were only 2 games where he played relatively poorly back to back - at Bama and at Kentucky. I’m not worried yet. I think he bounces back against WVU. Wesley Harris and Lamont West will likely be matched up on him and they are two of their worst defenders. I’ll start to be concerned if doesn’t bounce back in this one.

Admiral had a bad night. It happens to all players, but he will be back. He has been beyond fantastic all year, and he will help us finish this thing. Grant was amazing, but it was a very big load to carry. He needs Admiral to step up. This team has to have Admiral step up.

This scare was probably good for us. Also, for this team to see they can win when Admiral is really off, and a team like Vandy is playing way beyond their ability, will do us good in the long run.

This team is special and it will continue to be a special TEAM.

Admiral is one of my favorite players of all time. However, I am somewhat disappointed with his body language towards the end of the game last night. Two examples, 1) he gets taken out of the game and Fulkerson tries to give him "5" and Admiral disses Fulky and walks right past him 2) after Grants shot is blocked the end of regulation and Barnes starts chewing on Grant , Admiral basically stares down Grant with the look of " WTH were you doing".
I hope Admiral doesn't get away from the Team concept that has gotten us to this point and continues to be a leader on this team. The last thing we need is Admiral trying to impress NBA scouts and pouting when he has a bad game. I think Barnes won't let this happen and also think Admiral is too great of a person to let this happen. Hopefully he gets in the gym and gets his shot back because without him, we're Nowhere close to being the #1 team in the conference, much less the country! Let's go Admiral!

Grant did make a bad read, self admitted, Admiral was open for a 3............don't let what happen bother you, the heat of the game and who they were playing put a bit more stress on the guys. They did fine...........it is a W.

We don't win vs Gonzaga without Admiral! He's in a shooters slump and will get out of it. Better now than in March!

I did not mean that he is not a team player. Sorry if it came off that way. It's just at times this demeanor rears it's ugly head. And it most always either comes in games like last night or because he such a passionate team and competitive guy the results are team breakdowns like the one we just saw. Which, if this is the case, he needs to tone it down just a little. A shame his demeanor is not more like Grants. One the other hand too much "Grant" might become too dull. Arguing with myself, maybe his "passion" is what balances the "team" out. I am not able to analyze something like this. Oh well.........

I also noticed that when Grant scored a big basket in overtime and flexed his muscles, Admiral did too. Just a bad night for the Admiral, we will need him desperately at some point later in the season and he will deliver! Go Vols!!!

Admiral practices hard and plays hard. I think he is hard on himself when its not happening.

He will be back, he’s in a funk right now and it sucks for him because he’s normally so dominant. It happens but he will get back into his stride and be back to being Admiral again.

I think he is disappointed in his play and is getting a bit frustrated. I think he will get it back and everyting will be back to normal. Barnes will handle it just fine It seems we had our usual bad shooting night when we play in that firetrap.

Yes, basketball exposes the best players in the game to bad nights on occasion. He will be okay.

Except Admiral wasn’t unguarded. He was very well guarded, in fact, by 6-10 Simi Shittu.

The short clip of him explaining why he was deserving of the Wooden award was a wee bit cringeworthy.
Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of that, either. Would have preferred our guys collectively decline those “opportunities”, although I understand the selfish desire to prove others wrong in their case. Not a good look in general, though. Let the main thing be the main thing; winning games.
