Probably plastic. If you have wax on it, Windex will melt a bit of it and create a new shine without going to the car polishes. I had a black Corvette that I used to polish all the time. After a year, I had polished down to the primer on the 'glass. I used Windex on the others after I found out about it.
See I rarely ever, ever, use a polish. Only if I need to remedy imperfections in the clear coat. Just keep it well waxed.
