I think this is all some sort of a master plan.. we just had two AD"S here with no UT blood... then comes currie.. i have and odd feeling, or atleast i can only hope, that we will get butch out, and get a new, proven coach with UT ties... that knows what it means to be a Volunteer...

Yes I've been around since 1974. The fact is Fulmer won the East the year before he was fired. He won 44 games his last five seasons here. Once again you don't see this. Fulmer had a bad year and was let go. So yes his firing led to this and I needed no hindsight to know this the day he was fired. I called it from day one.

A school that just the year before won the East and came very close to beating the eventual national champions LSU. So what does Mike Hamilton do? He hires a guy with zero HC experience and a losing NFL record. Not only that, he allowed Kiffin to sign a contract that let him bolt if his dream job opened up. Ok.

Now we have to replace Kiffin. So what happens? Derek Dooley was hired. A guy who had a record of 17-20 at freaking Louisiana Tech. That led to the hiring of yet another mid level coach Butch Jones. And the rest is history.

Obviously, 1974 was the year you were born. Cutcliff was Fulmers saving grace, without him Fulmer lost all his magic. Just why do you think Fulmer was fired? Was it because he was so highly thought of? Maybe, just maybe, it was obvious he no longer fit into the evolving game of football. It's a business. How many other schools came clamoring for his services as a coach...he was available. I'm 71, I saw it happening. I was banned from this site for questioning Fulmer Football. I was right then, I still am.
