If our AD does not see that this ship is sinking faster than the Titanic, he is crazy. If he fails to pull the trigger on firing Jones, maybe he too should be shown the door. I am holding out judgement in hopes he will do what our last two AD’s have failed to,do and that’s make a home run hire. Thoughts.

I think he will give CBJ more rope to hang himself with (South Carolina, Bama and KY) and see what happens. He needs just a little more ammo to justify firing a coach that has had 3 winning seasons/3 bowl wins in a row and consecutive top recruiting classes.

I think this is all some sort of a master plan.. we just had two AD"S here with no UT blood... then comes currie.. i have and odd feeling, or atleast i can only hope, that we will get butch out, and get a new, proven coach with UT ties... that knows what it means to be a Volunteer...

This is what will speak to Curry. This picture is the end of the third quarter. Looked the same last week. Next, it will be like this at kickoff!

Had no problem firing a coach one year after going to the SEC championship game and was also a national championship coach

If he doesn't see it Monday, he'll see it with half empty stadium vs SC, and if that doesn't do it, the curb stomping we'll get by Bama will seal it.

I hope Currie is making some serious phone calls tonight. It's certainly time to find the next coach.

When it looks like this it is never long until the hammer drops. Unreal that with a new AD CBJ didn't bother to install an offense capable of scoring. He is almost begging for the buyout with this team.

Yep and the sad part is these fans don't see that firing Fulmer has led to all of this. Fulmer was finished, Fulmer lost his edge, Fulmer this and Fulmer that. Yeah Fulmer won 5 East titles two in his last four years, 2 SEC titles and a national championship. Damn we've been so good since we fired that loser.

Exactly. But prepare for the Fulmer haters to be all over you. They will blame Fulmer for this mess.

Hindsight is 20/20, it's also nearsighted. You must not have been around to watch Fulmers fall from grace. He got lazy, along with an influx of better coaches and staffs into the SEC. In the end, he too was painful to watch. Fulmers firing didn't lead to this, it was his inability to maintain the program that started the decline in the UT football.

Yes I've been around since 1974. The fact is Fulmer won the East the year before he was fired. He won 44 games his last five seasons here. Once again you don't see this. Fulmer had a bad year and was let go. So yes his firing led to this and I needed no hindsight to know this the day he was fired. I called it from day one.

You are most certainly wrong. If you want to make the case that it was time for Fulmer to go, fine. Although I still believe he would have done ok the next few years, but fine. When he was fired, Tennessee was still very relevant in the country. From 2003-2007 he won 3 East titles. So its not like he went on this huge slide that resulted in 3 or 4 losing seasons in a row.

So its 2008 and Fulmer was fired. There is a vacancy at the head coaching spot at a national powerhouse school in Tennessee. A school that just the year before won the East and came very close to beating the eventual national champions LSU. So what does Mike Hamilton do? He hires a guy with zero HC experience and a losing NFL record. Not only that, he allowed Kiffin to sign a contract that let him bolt if his dream job opened up. Ok.

Now we have to replace Kiffin. So what happens? Derek Dooley was hired. A guy who had a record of 17-20 at freaking Louisiana Tech. That led to the hiring of yet another mid level coach Butch Jones. And the rest is history.

You Fulmer haters can spew whatever garbage you want his firing led to what we now are experiencing.

I'm glad some vol fans out there still has common sense.

Obviously, 1974 was the year you were born. Cutcliff was Fulmers saving grace, without him Fulmer lost all his magic. Just why do you think Fulmer was fired? Was it because he was so highly thought of? Maybe, just maybe, it was obvious he no longer fit into the evolving game of football. It's a business. How many other schools came clamoring for his services as a coach...he was available. I'm 71, I saw it happening. I was banned from this site for questioning Fulmer Football. I was right then, I still am.
