AD Bubba Cunningham

Interesting. I mean she is the chancellor so she could randomly make the decision on her own, and rightfully so, but I would expect if she started doing things like that she would not be at Tennessee too long. I doubt she wants to ruffle the boosters' feathers that much in her first few weeks.

I do not always agree with the way our boosters think and a lot of the time I believe they cause more harm than good, but when you have people donating multi-million dollars annually, you have to listen to them.

I agree. She's cutting her own throat if she goes rogue here.

I hate UNC, that said, Bubba Cunningham would be a home run hire. He has somehow masterfully navigated the NCAA away from the men's basketball and football programs so that the women's basketball program will fall on the sword.

Mike Hamilton. Yeah, we all remember him, was from NC and a graduate of Clemson - SC. Just that memory alone should ban even the thought of another Carolina tarnished UT AD ... ever! Somebody needs to explain that one to Davenport real quick, and in plain simple English - like "an offer she can't refuse" kind of simple.

I read up on him a little more, seems respected all around.
The main issue appears to be that his name isn't Blackburn and he doesn't have UT ties.
Nothing necessarily wrong with him but you can't debate peoples' emotions.

Plus, I do like Blackburn so I'll just join the mob. This guy is horrible :)

It is possible that if the boosters are in disagreement over Fulmer and Blackburn, they decide to go outside.

They do that and there will be a major outcry that they certainly don't want. I don't care if they have to draw names out of a hat, it better be Blackburn or Fulmer.

My point is she would take the blame in the meantime, before we even found out. She would get crucified even if it's not her choice.

Besides, if the boosters cared about our out cries, Derek Dooley never would have been hired.

Now I'm depressed again.

I think she will go outside that circle, there has to be better ADs than Fulmer,Blackburn is a good choice,if you want good unproven ADs at this level

so who knows ?

I believe the new Chancellor is trying to make the best hire she can. On paper Cunningham is a much more proven hire than Fulmer or Blackburn. Just not through most Vol fans' orange colored glasses.

I will say after reading up on all the info on the NCAA and what Cunningham has done at UNC he is a more solid hire than I gave him credit for earlier. Florida also tried to land him a few years ago and North Carolina people like him. They were on their board talking about how he would never go to Tennessee, makes me kinda like him now. I still like Blackburn but he may be my second guy now. GBO!
