Well they really backed themselves into a corner with this one unless they already had a deal lined up.Am I the only person, if I was mediocre at a job, I wouldn’t think I deserved more money? Like yea I would WANT more money, but ain’t no way in hell I’d think I’d deserve more money. People do know there’s this thing called smart negotiating, and that’s not what Nico’s family are currently doing. I’m also tired of that talking point
I've not been following this story, so I have no bias one way or another. I just know that in any controversial, breaking story, THE TRUTH will be elusive and more money will be made off of speculation, innuendo, and half-truths.
For whatever it's worth, here's today's interview with Will West of 99.1 The Sports Animal, offering what he's been able to learn:
We have plenty of talent for him to be a 1st round pick if he has the talent. He has not shown that he has the talent to be a 1st round pick. See players like Drake Maye or Kenny Pickett for example over the last few years of QBs drafted in 1st round who didn’t have the talent on their teams that we do. There are many more.It makes sense though. If the goal is to be a high NFL draft pick then you need the best team around you. Nico and his family could be looking at the current talent level on offense and seeing that they need more help if Nico is to maximize his potential and be a 1st round pick.
It's actually more plausible than him trying to squeeze another million or two out of us when franchise QBs are making $60 million a year now. Maximum NFL money could be the goal rather than maximum NIL money.
NY Times! Nico is (in)famous!![]()
Has NFL free agency arrived in college football? Tennessee’s $2 million QB absent from practice amid NIL talks
This was to be the last season of Iamaleava's original four-year, $8 million deal, which was set to pay him $2.2 million this year.www.nytimes.com
I tried listening to this clown a couple times. No thanks. I care take Basilio off his meds better than this jerk. He’s completely wrong. Will has been weird about this, almost making Tennessee the bad guy.
Or just strap it on and be a vol or gtfo.It makes sense though. If the goal is to be a high NFL draft pick then you need the best team around you. Nico and his family could be looking at the current talent level on offense and seeing that they need more help if Nico is to maximize his potential and be a 1st round pick.

Basilio is much better than this guy. I realize that the man gets hate on here, but he doesn’t act superior to other people. He is out in front on some things more than he gets credit for. He also always admits when he’s wrong. He doesn't say "you don't know football/basketball if you disagree with me".I tried listening to this clown a couple times. No thanks. I care take Basilio off his meds better than this jerk. He’s completely wrong.
It’s pretty clear CJH probably knew of the shopping a couple weeks ago. I’d suspect he started his recruiting efforts then also.
It’s not real, check the twitter account lol.He should not be allowed back in the athletic facility and immediately removed from scholarship.
If the NCAA are such pussies they ignore this BS… then I hope college football burns to the ground. These dudes are the equivalent of dumb 20 year old girls on onlyfans whoring themselves out. NFL scouts/teams are taking note I’m sure.
