According to this, Florida should be a win

Nothing in the pre-season guarantees a win against anyone. Tennessee history is littered with games that no one predicted them to lose in the pre-season.

Georgia State most recent but also Wyoming, Memphis, Rutgers, Virginia to name a few in my lifetime. Others I'm sure.

Don't get fooled by pre-season talk. for all teams it is mostly positive or over the top negative...

So the fans, the ones who, year in and year out show up in droves to support this team. By merch. Buy tickets, spend money, cheer their brains out for this team. It’s their fault that we can’t beat UF? GTFOH with that trash. Blaming the fans is the epitome of dumb.
Not talking about the outcome of games itself. Talking about this ridiculous superstitious bs that many, you in particular, blame for our lack of success against Florida. If losses to Florida are the result of a 30-year “curse,” as you’ve averred repeatedly in thread after thread, how can players and coaches who’ve been here less than 5 be responsible?

If our record against UF isn’t, in fact, the product of a fan-perpetuated curse, but the result of poor coaching, recruiting, and general mismanagement, then YOU can kindly GTFO with your “Woe is me, we’ll beat the Packers before we beat Florida” schtick.

I honestly don’t know what the reason as to why we have lost to UF so much since 1990. Do you? Look what you said. Every 4 years or so is a different crop of players. For us, since 2009, about every 4 years is a new staff. Yet still the same results against UF. To think the fans have anything to do with us crapping the bed year after year against UF is dumb. How? How does a fans attitude in his/her own brain affect guys on a football field? Good grief.

“Yet still the same results” despite different personnel. Yeah, exactly my point. Now we could be rational and accept that our abysmal record against UF is a result of the overall dismal state of our football program over the last 15 years, coupled with Spurrier having Fulmer’s number. Or we could stick to the magical/psychological explanation you and others seem so fond of, but you can’t do both. If we lose to Florida because we’re “cursed,” who’s the curse on? If we lose to Florida because we’re just scared of that dern old Blue and Ahrnge, who perpetuates the fear? The only way these kids will be scared of the Gators is if we as a fanbase have taught them to be.

I don’t subscribe to any magical explanation. We aren’t cursed. We just tend to crap the bed virtually every single time we play UF. Why? I have no clue. If you want to just say that every single time we have lost to UF was because Spurrier had Fulmers number or the state of our program then that’s fine. That really doesn’t hold water but whatever.

Again getting back to the main point. The fans are not responsible for any loss on the field by TN. The fact that you even insinuated that is ludicrous.

FL has swapped places with TN. Now Gator fans get to suffer with an overhyped HC, lackluster recruiting, and zero roster depth.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

Let’s bury the Gators this year and “the curse” along with it. Wear your Vampire Crosses to the game lol
Lack luster recruiting? Last I checked they are ranked 12th in the nation and we are ranked 11th.

The key to 8 wins: don't slip up against anyone we should beat.

The key to 10 wins: go up to Pittsburgh and absolutely tear them up; then do the same down in Louisiana.

The key to 11 wins: sneak a march against either UGa or Bama. Preferably UGa, so we get a trip to Atlanta.

Go Vols!
We should beat Pitt by two TDs minimum imo. The teams that are 50/50 is LSU and Florida. Florida solely for the fact that we always seem to lose against them no matter what. LSU is a very talented team.
Two loses are Bama and GA for sure. We should beat everyone else.

That same front seven sacked Hooker 4 times last year and had 7 other tackles for loss. Same dudes, and Florida adds veteran LB Ventrell Miller to the mix, he missed the TN game last year due to injury. But yeah, they all suck and this should be a cakewalk against a talent-less Florida team. We’re just hoping to stay ahead of Vandy and avoid last place in the East.
Nope

Mark it as a Vols win.

Gators are a seriously wounded duck. Our Tennessee rifles will finish them off and put them out of their agony.

Nuff said!
Last year at this time every media outlet in America was proclaiming the fall of UT due to massive transfers out, new coaching staff etc….sound familiar?

Seem to play their best game of the year against the Vols, new team, new coach, depleted roster, doesn't seem to matter. Thier QB will cause some problems more than likely.

TN D has made FL QB's look like AA's for many yrs now. I can see the losses to SS teams, they had great players and one of the best offensive minds as a HC. But to lose to some of the other teams is mind boggling at best. I mean we lose to them in the swamp 2 straight yrs on hail-mary passes at the end of the game. Chalk that up to poor calls by the DC but some of the other losses are not explained that easy.

I played CFB at what used to be the AA level but no comments by fans, either good or bad, had any effect on our play against any opponent. Coaches drilled into us all the time about tuning out fans / media.

Why is it that we “can’t” beat Florida, according to you? “I don’t know, we just can’t” is not an explanation.

Dig deeper. FL diehards aren’t happy rn
Don't care what they think, their new head coach went from 40s or 30s in the ranking to 12th in one day. He had something like 7 4 star players committed in a single day. If Florida had 1 5 star commit they would be ranked higher than us. Oh they also have half or less 3 stars committed than we do. Apparently their coach is a late boomer when it comes to recruiting. Either way so far he is doing good at recruiting.
