According to this, Florida should be a win

Florida’s front 7 is a disaster this year. Gervon Dexter looks small. Brenton Cox might be the biggest waste of talent since JJ Peterson. I can’t even name any other players in their front seven because they are practically non-existent. The secondary is better, except for Terry Dean, but if their front 7 can’t get within 10 yards of Hooker, he’s gonna carve up their dbs. I’m telling you now, Milton will get all the 4th Qtr snaps this year.

That same front seven sacked Hooker 4 times last year and had 7 other tackles for loss. Same dudes, and Florida adds veteran LB Ventrell Miller to the mix, he missed the TN game last year due to injury. But yeah, they all suck and this should be a cakewalk against a talent-less Florida team. We’re just hoping to stay ahead of Vandy and avoid last place in the East.

Good luck with that. If it comes down to it, and i hope it does for you, I'd like to see you stay ahead of Vandy.

Go Vols!

I would counter by saying that was before the team quit on Dan. Florida seems to have mid to late season collapses a bunch. It's too bad we play them in September. They were 3 points away from beating Bama the week before,
Agree completely, we really need to move the game to November. When UF loses to UGA about half the time after that they fall apart. Plus we would get them in cold weather every other season.

I'm looking at that Pitt game first. If we beat Pitt, Florida should be a W.
We could lose to Pitt and then beat Florida also. Pitt could have a pretty good team again this year. Alot of analysts like their potential and we are playing them at their place. Everyone was tearing their clothes and pouring ashes on their head after losing to them last year and then they ended up winning the ACC. It's best not to get too high after a win or too low after a loss, as far as projecting what it means long term, especially early in a season. Case in point being Florida played Alabama close early last year and thought they were a hot commodity and then they finished 6-7.

Good points for sure. But regardless of where Florida has been they always have our number. I think if we beat Pitt our chances are greater to beat Florida and that is when I will mark it as a *should. If we don't beat Pitt, then I will leave it as a tossup which is the most I will give it without that dub after losing so many games to them for so long.

We got as good a chance to beat Florida this year as we have in a long time imo. They do have our number though.

Believe it when I see it. Playing them early in the season never works out for us. Wish we could get them late .

Games are not won through a war of words in the pre-seaon. The proof is in the pudding.

Assuming Florida has had its head screwed on straight (for much of 2021, they did not), I see this as a toss-up game with Tennessee having the home field.

So, I would give the edge to Tennessee based on home field.

But, I always say you are (whatever it is) until you prove you aren't.

In that regard, you all can ignore it all you want, but Tennessee's defense is straight trash until they prove otherwise.

They've proven they can score. Sometimes, I think they are too reliant on the big play, but it's clear they proved they can put up yards and points. And they better.

Not going to lie, for all of the points made in the article (much I disagree with), I would not trade rosters on the defensive side of the ball.

Eh, our O was still getting things ironed out in Heup’s system. We had also recently changed qbs. This year’s O is gonna be humming like few have been seen in the SEC. We were forced to use players recruited for a different system last year, but this year Heup has more of his guys, guys bought in to his system. Last year’s O was just a glimpse of what this year’s O is gonna do.
Sure, you’re returning the front seven that got 4 sacks and 7 other TFLs, but you’re also returning the front seven that quit the rest of the season. Hooker’s accuracy with our elite wide outs followed by some strong runs is gonna have this D quitting by halftime.

Blaming the fans 🙄🙄🙄

I know right. Some fans need to be coddled. The stress of being a fan can be very overwhelming. Trying to lower expectations so they don’t have a public breakdown seems to be the go to strategy for most of these fans.

I accept that if we stumble I won’t handle it well and I would just assume be at the game to have my meltdown as to being anywhere else.

Florida has to show me they can beat us in Neyland this year for me to believe it.

The key to 8 wins: don't slip up against anyone we should beat.

The key to 10 wins: go up to Pittsburgh and absolutely tear them up; then do the same down in Louisiana.

The key to 11 wins: sneak a march against either UGa or Bama. Preferably UGa, so we get a trip to Atlanta.

Go Vols!
If I had my ‘druthers, and we could beat one but not both, I’d pick the dub over ‘Bama. No need to rematch them in the SECCG and we finish 11-1 with our only loss to a likely undefeated UGA team. In that scenario, I don’t see how they could keep us out of the playoff.

This is all very pie in the sky, but can’t say I haven’t thought about it. 😆

Edit: Unless three out of the ACC, PAC, Big XII and B1G all have an undefeated champion, which is highly unlikely.

This will likely end once divisional play goes away in a couple of years. Florida may not even be a permanent opponent anymore, and when they are on our schedule who knows what time of the year it will be.

Who else is there to blame in this case? Players come in for ~4 years. The coaches have been here less than 2 years. So if we’ve been snakebit against Florida for 30 years, who else can you blame for perpetuating the bull****?

So the fans, the ones who, year in and year out show up in droves to support this team. By merch. Buy tickets, spend money, cheer their brains out for this team. It’s their fault that we can’t beat UF? GTFOH with that trash. Blaming the fans is the epitome of dumb.

I have wondered what the players think about fan support?

Game Day:

A)Major Factor
When the crowd is into a game betting loud and such…players feed off the energy, getting into the zone and getting a surge of adrenaline.

B)Mild Factor
It can make communication difficult, but only if you don’t prepare.

C)Non Factor
Loud or not, I know how to get in the zone with or with out fans.

Not Game Day:

A) Fan support is cool.
Some fans really get into it, they are fun to watch. After a few beers there’s no telling what you’ll see.

B) Fan support is creepy.
Bunch of jock sniffers.

C) Fans are the worst.
Know nothing clowns with their ignorant opinions.

With NIL we may never know.

How would you feel about 0-12?
So how about your take on the SDS article, they can be ridiculously unreliable but maybe some nuggets of truth. I mean it’s very possible UTs defense will still be hot garbage so this whole we are going to roll feels like magical thinking.
