According to Da'Rick

I tip my hat to the competitive fire of any guy who'll go over the middle in the SEC, and Da'Rick proved he can do that.

Simply put, dude's good, and we do need him, even though he's an idiot. Hopefully the team can help get his head screwed on right.

Who else do we have a WR? A JH11 coming off major knee surgery, a highly touted JUCO recruit, ZR (yeah, that's how bad it is), and a bunch of freshmen that may be good, but we don't know.

I'm all for punishment, discipline, and rules, but it people honestly believe our offense is better off without the teams ONLY All SEC player, then they should never complain again about talent beig a factor in our losses.

I agree to an extent...and I'd put up with him because he is so talented. Let me ask you this, though. Do you think DaRick plays to win or plays for the attention? To me, everything he does screams look at me. I think he's competitive in the sense he wants to win his individual battle, but I think the success of the team is secondary. To be fair, though, I think our lack of success might have something to do with it. His talent wont be replaced...Patterson is a different reciever. You can't expect any combo of our other wrs to replace him, either.

I see what you're saying, and late in the season it definitely seemed that way. That was also after Chris Low and everyone crowned him god's gift to quarterbacks. To a 19 year old kid, it would be easy to get the big head.

I thought during the first couple games, when JH11 was there to push him, he was playing a different game.

He's not replaceable though. Bowles has a similar body/frame, but who knows.

I still hope he's here come August.

No, I hear ya, CDD is in a tough spot, but I do believe that this is far more minor than ESPN and KNS are making it out to be. We all know that our fair city's media correspondents have been in a hissy since Dooley basically cut them off.

However, he's got to put in the work. Run the stairs, do the up-downs, and etc.

If he can't see how hard it is for guys like JJ or Janoris Jenkins to go pro from crappy schools, than that's all on DR. Coach can't control that, but trying hard to keep him doesn't hurt me when the team's behind him.

I've been in the locker room where the star was a douche, and even though I resented it some, when we were in that huddle I knew he had my back. He hated the coaches, but put it all on the line. I still respected the guy, and I see a similar reaction coming from the team. Da'Rick balls hard on the field. If he can clean it up off the field we will be better for it as a team.

No doubt! Losing Da'Rick would be tough, even with the talent we have coming in. Still, CDD can't let it stand.

It reminds me of the Kiffin/Hamilton situation. Kiffin had no respect for Hamilton, he openly disrespected him with his actions. He knew Hamilton wasn't going to do anything about it. He gets out to USC and he's on his best behavior because Haden is not gonna put up with that stuff.

Dooley should have benched him last year IMO, the stuff with Baggett and McKeefery alone warrants that.

If CDD thinks team chemistry was bad last year, letting DR walk all over him will give much the same result.

Well, DR's not practicing till he finishes what he has to finish, so at least CDD has stuck to his guns thus far.

We all know he's cut players loose in the past, star players, so it could still happen.

I hope it doesn't for the offensive production, and Da'Rick's sake, but it could. We've all just got to wait and see I suppose.

I agree with the sentiment that Rogers plays for personal attention over team success. That was pretty evident against UK. And yes, he's a very talented player that would certainly make an impact in the outcome of the season. However, with such a young team I don't think it's fair to sacrifice the development of the other 82 players for the exception of one. If he can get his act together I say keep him but nothing has shown me he's capable of that so far. Only time will tell...good luck Doolander.

This is what is puzzling me about the people who are against Dooley... he should be fired because he hasnt kicked Da'rick off of the team and is "obviously" treating star players... yet he kicked Janzen Jackson, our best defensive player, off without blinking... Dooley has a limit and it sucks listening to this fanbase bash our coach, our team, and our program when they dont know ANY facts and base their harsh opinion over unproven rumors. Once they bash Dooley, they have to mentioned how we are rock bottom and once they do that... they bash the teams talent... its hard to listen to some of this crap.

That's a tough one...I don't think Dooley has the luxury if looking ahead though.

Seriously...that was a saga. It played all the way out, Janzen kicked himself off the team, he was given endless chances.

Look, 3 guys got suspended around the time of the UK game. Other guys, guys that play, did not, even though there was similar behavior.

We have the past season as a "What not to do" hopefully CDD has a new plan to solve what are similar problems.

You and me both! He's a monster...even when he's more concerned about his stat line. He needs to think about his bank account right now, though, and gets turds together.

If Da'Rick is going to be the next TO, then I'd prefer he do it elsewhere...

If he wants to engage in a battle of wills with Dooley, then he will end up elsewhere...

Either way, the 2012 season will be his last in college. He will declare for the 2013 NFL draft, regardless of where, or if, he plays in 2012.

He isn't going to make or break the offense in 2012, so he either gets onboard and stops being a distraction, or he takes that crap somewhere else.

Simple as that. And at this point, he's a distraction, so I'd rather see him playing at a directional state school rather than risk him ruining the chemistry of the team.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Go Vols.
i have to say what a good post:]

Dont even act like it was some process the day it happened.. you woke up and was like "WTF?!?!" when you saw on VN that Janzen got booted. We were all surprised it actually happened. I understand he had chances but it was nothing like the media or VN has made this darick thing based off of rumors from "friends in the AD". It was simple because we knew some of Janzens problems... no one knows Daricks... at all.

I'm hoping that the retarded ones are few and far between and just being loud. Put yourself in a situation where a bunch of hungry fans starving for inside information are starting rumors that you did this and that in the locker room when the truth isnt even out.

^ example of the nonsense this fanbase sh!t$ out without knowing a damn thing.

Seriously? Are you that thick after all of these posts and CDD's statement??? DaRick screwed up and CDD has given him the opportunity to redeem himself. If DaRick isnt "on point" tomorrow punt his arse to Ga St.!! THIS IS TENNESSEE!!!

If Darick was late to a meeting cause his alarm didnt go off and he didnt want to run suicides because his alarm didnt go off would you still say boot him?

He cut Montori (not a star , but we really couldn't afford to lose any DT) and Myles Jr. also. With Da'rick , I don't think it's grades , drugs or any sort of crime. That is why I think he hasn't got the boot yet. He just has trouble doing what he is told. I think it's because he's got away with everything all these years. He has been the star on every team he has played for I'd guess. He just won't go by the rules and at some point , he has to learn to. I mean , if he can't do this kind of stuff now , how will he deal with it in the NFL? You can't tell him anything. He's thinks he is always right in his mind and I don't know if that will ever change.

I've heard him talk about working hard and doing what needs to be done. Well workouts and meetings are part of the game. On his twitter page he talks about being the best at everything he does. Well being the best requires doing the so called 'little things' too. I mean , I get that he doesn't like that stuff , but it's really the simple things with him. He wants to live by his own set of rules and it doesn't work that way. Does he not understand that the other players have to do this stuff also? I'm not sure how many played football , or any sport for that matter , but if I'm doing my job I expect others to do theirs. It's a lack of respect to the team and I can only imagine how many times he has been told this , only to turn around and ignore the rules the next day. At some point enough is enough. I hope he can get it together and make it through the year. I wouldn't bet on it though. It's like I said , he won't get out of his own way. A chance to do something most of us would do anything for and he is his own worst enemy.

Absolutely! Disciplined players work hard and never ever challenge the Coach. Especially when the Coach points out your in
discretion and instructs you on how to fix it...then you tweet...I have options. Thats not discipline or commitment.

The process the day it happened? I'm talking about the he's not with the team, he's reinstated to the team, he's not in Knoxville, something about his family...actually Dooley tipped us off the day before iirc.

As for Da'Rick, he's not with the team, he's back with the team, he's not at practice he has work to do, etc...sounds familiar, that's all I'm saying.

I hope the guy makes it back again, if he does I hope he becomes a leader and not a divider.

As for evidence, people said there wasn't any evidence concerning Janzen, even though there was. There is here too, and most of it comes straight from the player/s.

DR is one of the best ever. He should be able to do whatever he wants. UT is lucky he chose to bring his talents here. He doesn't need to practice. Just throw him the ball 10-15 times per game and our chances of
Winning increase greatly. If he played on a different team we'd all want to see him dismissed. But, he plays for our favorite team, so, just let him do whatever he want for one more season.

There. I said what many are thinking, but wouldn't say it themselves. And watch out for media lurkers on here (escape goat comes to mind... Callahan).

You can't be serious right now.

Look at Dooleys philosophy.. He compares coaching to parenting to a certain degree... if your kid doesnt take the trash out you dont kick him or her out of the house. You yell at them or ground them. He is not with the team.. he is grounded. Its a juvenile analogy but none of you are seeing this in fair eyes. How many teenagers tell their parents no? Plenty. You act on the rumors and not the facts. Facts are he is taking care of something before rejoining the team. Facts are a transfer was not discussed as of 11:30 this morning. Facts are nothing solid has come out since. We are on the outside and for some reason most of you act like you are on the inside. My point is save the trashing for when it comes out as fact. The saddest part of all of this is that yall opinion is set without knowing what the discrepancy is..

DR is a very, very talented WR...no doubt.

Potential game breaker, no doubt.

Serious NFL talent, no doubt.

But then, suddenly...when I read through this thread...and recall those times when DR was more about DR, and much less about UT...like the UK game...I start to question, and then doubt, whether his commitment to UT equals the commitment UT made to him.

Now this. Internal issue. DR not at practice. Only one reason for that: Coach and player at odds.

I may be wrong. This would not be the first time. But all of a sudden, tonight, I get the feeling that the best thing for UT to do...and the best thing for Dooley to do...is cut DR loose. Tonight. Now. Immediately.

Probably won't happen. DR might turn out to be a major player for UT in 2012.

But I doubt it. Hard for a zebra to change it's stripes.

Go Vols.

some are saying that da'rick was tired of being disrespected by the coaches--what's up with that.
