ACC

That’s the point I’m trying to make it’s been 13 years since we have been in the SEC title game it’s just too tough and more top heavy now than it’s ever been even the lower tier teams are not cupcakes anymore and some teams get squeezed out from the top rung like us. We certainly couldn’t waltz our way thru the ACC but it would be a far easier road to playing for a conference title.
Only point you got is on the top of your head.

I know this thread might ruffle some feathers but I’ve thought for awhile now we would be better served moving to the ACC. We would’ve been the second best team in the ACC this year really and would be right at the top every year with Clemson. Knoxville is pretty close to ACC country as well and we border NC, and Virginia so natural annual rivalries with Va. Tech and Virginia along UNC and NC st. would naturally be formed.
🤣🤣🤣

Not gonna happen, BUT I do think AR is about to become the Vandy of the West, and their fans are going to get tired of that. In the next B12 alignment they may bolt for the B12 with comparable money to the SEC and WV could move to the SEC. I also think Memphis may be a good candidate for B12
Nah, MO to west and get GT back.

Translation ... I'm scared of the current competition and want to turn tail and run.

You should be ashamed ... just sayin

The next restructuring will pull two teams from either the Big 12 or ACC and send them to the SEC (possibly two from OK OKSt, KSU, NCSt, VA, VT). SEC will have four 4-team divisions which means two more SECCGs and tons more revenue.

I'm guessing SECNorth: Tennessee, Vandy, KY and either VA/VT or NCST. TN rival games: AL: South, Ark: West, and GA or FL from the East. Every year SECNorth will play one other division such as South (3 games) plus 3 Rival games plus 3 SECNorth division games: 9 Conference games total. Plus one game from soon to be P4 and two other games from Group of 5 or FCS.

The P5 has 64 teams. That divides out evenly into four 16-team conferences. Goodbye B12? There is also ND, so one team like Rutgers or BC might get relegated to Group of 5 which also has about 64 football teams. This would translate into an extra Group of 4 National Championship for the smaller schools like Air Force, Cincinnati and Memphis to have a legitimate shot at winning. And of course, more TV revenue!

If the ACC, B1G and P16 also do the same with 3 game Conference Championship, then the National Championship can be either the 4 Conference Champions and possibly the runner ups if you want 8 teams to play it out (but then you're up to 17 games).

I see this going a similar way eventually. Especially the 4 division part.

I'm a Cincinnati guy. This is like my saying that the Reds are not doing too well in the NL Central...how 'bout we drop down to AAA and play Louisville, Columbus and Toledo?

I know subjects are tough to come by in the off season but this OP gives the internet/social media its well deserved reputation...

Heck, why be second to Clemson when we could win the Sun Belt every year?

I don't think so. I know you're just being sarcastic. A Sunbelt would knock the luster off the Vols and the resulting recruits would be very low level. Making us truly meaningless to CFB and Vols fans alike. [Tolling bell accompanied by Chopin's Funeral March}
