Academic report from GVX....

Which attributes to their draft stock. Number of starts don't. McClendon was terribly strong but never used that strength to stand out on the field.

How many Olinemen from UT over the past 7 years are on a pro roster?

Ramone Foster
J Mc

? I could be wrong, but I can't remember many more.

I use number of starts to show that they are talented. It seems like you think these players were scrubs until Kiffin's crew came. They were talented players, and were productive before the 09 stats. Thats why Im using starts. If you start as a sophomore on a 9-3 UT team, you are good.

It's hard as hell to make an NFL roster. You have talent if you are on one.
I think he was part of the Clawfense at some point, and it was probably psychologically damaging.

It wasn't too hard for McClendon. All he had to do was do a bench press and it covered up his lack of ability.

I have no clue. Not a lot, I assume. McClendon is there on potential, that's why he was drafted in the 5th round. His strength gave the scouts something to quantify. But he was never special on the field.

J Mc would be one of the top 3 OL to play at UT in the last 8 years or so. That's not bad, yet the coaching and schemes amounted to him basically going unnoticed.

Number of starts doesn't necessarily mean talent. Poole is now a two year starter and he is an average back. Palardy is a two year starter yet he is terrible. Starters aren't always talented.

I don't think he's close to top 3 just because he's on an NFL roster doing nothing.

But we've had some terrible olines during that span so it's not that great anyway.

He has only been in the league for 2 years, and one of those years were with the colts who have been absolutely terrible at developing olinemen the past 10 years.

You are naming a 6-7 team and a 5-7 team. Those guys started for a 9-3 UT team.

And a 5-7 team. And a 7-5 team. And the 5-7 team had one of the worst offenses Tennessee has ever had. They were apart of that team.

You can't just cherry-pick the good and completely ignore stuff that doesn't fit your side.

Just saw this tweet from an interview with muschump at some "Gator Gathering" interview thing. He's got bigger things to worry about I think

- Will Muschamp [was] asked about Tennessee's low team GPA (2.0) w/ many less than 1.8. "We're a lot better than that." #Gators

You are also ignoring the fact that UT got Dave Clawson that year. If David Cutcliffe would have stayed, there is a very good possibility Fulmer is still coaching. Clawson was the death of Fulmer.

I think I get what you are saying, but Fulmer was the death of Fulmer.

Eventually, Fulmer would have had to won an SEC title between 2008-2011 to keep his job, even if 8-9 win seasons kept happening.

Fulmer was the death of Fulmer. There were talks of not renewing his contract back when Sanders was the OC. He should have gracefully bowed out then.

Yes, Fulmer would have rode Cut all the way to a 7 or 8 win season.

Morgan Cox is still long snapping...

Aaron Sears went crazy or else he would still be in Tampa.

Chris Scott is still bouncing around I believe.

So why hasn't he seen the field in any meaningful situation or even been remotely praised by either team he's been on?

He was coached terrible in high school - I know that - but he never fulfilled his potential at UT.. and coaching can only do so much.

Probably the ONLY intelligent and the most revealing thing that I have read that you have posted.

The 08 team could have relied on the defense IMO. If UT even had a mediocre offense that year, which was easily possible, UT wins at least 9 games in 08. That would have kept Fulmer around for another year. We don't know if Fulmer would have another bad season, and ultimately would have gotten fired, but that is very possible with the way recruiting was going.

Im not denying that. Im saying Fulmer more than likely would not have been fired in 2008 if Hamilton would have rehired Cutcliffe. Whether or not he still gets fired later on, no one knows.

When Vol coached Derek Dooley was asked about Muschamps Cholesterol level, and the likelihood that the gator coach might stroke out on the sidelines, Dooley said, mine is much better than that, and we don't care if he strokes out #VOLS
