Academic report from GVX....

It happens a lot. Players having to play for a coach that they didn't come to play for. Add to that fact that in the past 2 years, Dooley has been the farthest thing from a player's coach its really not that shocking. It happens quite a bit with new unproven coaches though.

It happens when a coach isn't very good or is on the downside of his career.

Add to that, it happened in Dooley's 2nd year and not the first, it's just something else he's mismanaged.

This is probably not going to be well received, but I look at it as it is the coaches job to keep people eligible but not anything beyond that. He is getting paid to win football games not have 4.0 students. As long as they are eligible come fall, I don't really care how many are on probation right now. If the students themselves want to be above the NCAA minimum then that is their responsibility to put in that work.

That's fine, but they need to quit promoting the VFL program to recruits and mommas.

That's fine I guess - but most of these guys don't have a future in the NFL... certainly not all of the 24 that are in trouble.. their futures depend on staying in school and getting a degree.

I know that, and see your point and it is very valid. My thing is that if the players themselves don't see that then what is their degree really going to be worth? I feel those players fall into the Good Will Hunting quote:

See the sad thing about a guy like you, is in about 50 years you’re gonna start doin' some thinkin' on your own and you’re gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life. One, don't do that. And two, you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a ****in’ education you coulda' got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the Public Library.

Now obviously these players aren't dropping one hundred and fifty grand on their education, but the concept still applies that unless they realize how important it is how much is it really worth.

The second year had a lot less senior starting than the first year. His first year weren't completely his recruits, UT had around 6 senior starters in 2010. The seniors got pushed aside in 2011. Not really that shocking. Not a lot of situations similar to these. Im sure I could find some though. Les Miles had a disfunctional locker room before the NC game.

Jeffery is still around? One thing is for sure. If we made it to a bowl game , we would know most of them. Hope they get it all together before the season starts.

Apparently he is getting kicked off now, and John Brice reported when Darick was flirting with GA southern that if UT made a bowl game, Darick wouldn't have been eligible. It could explain why he didnt want to go to a bowl game, same for Bray if he was on there. Hubbs said that no less than 4 players would have been ineligible for a bowl game this year.

I've heard the "lose the last game" story and really hope that's not true. You try to ignore it , but it's hard to forget given the team we were playing.

All the more reason these student/athletes should not have to be babysat for academics.
