Academic report from GVX....

The VFL program was formed for one and only one reason. That reason has nothing to do with ensuring success anywhere but on the recruiting trail. The VFL program was made to make mommas think their sons would be taken care of off the field. It was brilliant marketing but issues such as this one proves my point on the purpose it was created.

Because a bad semester in the classroom means the VFL program is BS? I'm not sure how you made that leap.

He's the one who believes life after football is more important for these kids, no? VFL program and all that jazz?

He won't. But that's how it should be done. Not blaming him for it, because we the fans created the culture of college athletics, but that's how it should be.

Name one head coach in the SEC who doesn't lie to recruits or parents. The best recruiters lie. Thats a fact. You aren't going to find a good coach who is a saint.

At the same time, it ultimately comes down to the players. Just like the whole effort on the field issue. I know tons of guys who had a coach in his a** 24/7 but that didn't change anything. It ultimately comes down to the players to. Maybe Dooley could have done a better job at making sure things are organized and players are showing up, but it comes down to the players to try.

Players - which are recruited by the HC. So its a circle that all leads back to the HC.

I agree.

But Dooley is the coach. Ultimately, it is his job to make sure his players, and overall, the team, are performing well academically. Right now, they are not.

Did anyone expect Bryce Brown to act the way he did? Its not Lane Kiffin's or Dooley's fault the way Brown acted. He was considered a hardworking, great kid coming out of highschool. No one expected that. The best players aren't choir boys.

Of course.

But to some, they would prefer a high character coach, which, in actuality, there are hardly any.

This kinda proves it does, doesn't hit? When basically half your scholarship players are on academic probation?

What did Bryce Brown do? It wasn't his decision to leave it was his fathers.

Of course the best players aren't choir boys - that's where the coach's job comes in to make sure that these guys stay eligible and out of trouble if they want to take risk on guys that are talented but loose cannons.

I have said the VFL program was about nothing more than recruiting from the start. I haven't made that jump just from this. This helps prove my opinion.

Bryce wanted to leave too, he didn't exactly fit in well with the players here. They were culturally different. Once Kiffin left, it was a no brainer. Was it not Brown's decision to half-a** at Kstate's practices?

We don't know if he has or hasn't done that.

They aren't performing well.

So yeah, it's still on him. You can make three logical conclusions here:

1) He recruited a bunch of kids who don't care about academics.

2) He doesn't give a **** how they do in the classroom.

3) He is on their ass to do better, but they don't listen to him.

How can you defend Dooley here?

The top coaches in the SEC are terrible people who lie and cheat. If a fan says they want a coach with integrity then they want a very mediocre football program.

Actually it's closer to 1/4, but despite that I don't see how this proves anything. If it continues after he hopefully addressed the problem then I will come to your side of the argument. Until then lets give him a fair shake.

I would probably half ass it too if I had to transfer to a school where I didn't even want to be at.

But why are you bringing up Bryce? He was fine academically and left the team after Kiffin left.. he never gave Dooley any problems because he wasn't part of the team by the time Dooley got here.. it was just a bunch of media hype and message board stuff that made it seem like a never ending saga with him.

He's in year three with about 90% being his players, who are performing ****ty academically.

Thought it was 40, not 30.

My apologies.

How many are Dooley's recruits? We don't know. Most are juniors. Its a mixture of all 3.

With players like Darick, im sure 1 and 3 are the choices. Now with players like Jeffery and Schofield, it wouldn't surprise me if 2 was the way he felt. More schollies for next year.

As I said the class that is doing horrible he didnt recruit. #2 makes no sense and #3 is on the player if true.

I'd venture to say 80%.

Hope you don't do that with your kids.

Says the guy who thinks a five minute meeting will suffice. Please. These kids are in college. They are considered adults and should be soley accountable for their own downfall. To say the coach is purely responsible for THIER studies is ludicrous.
