Academic report from GVX....

If it continues after he hopefully addressed the problem then I will come to your side of the argument. Until then lets give him a fair shake.

The VFL program is 2plus years old now. Academics were supposed to be apart of that program. It has failed miserably if you believe it to be about more than on the field issues.

I don't buy at all that he wanted to stay at UT once Kiffin left. He may not have wanted to play at Kstate, but we don't know for certain. We never will.

And I don't buy it at all that he didn't want to be here. And yes we will never know.

Was Kiffin who he wanted to play for? yeah - but he definitely didn't want to end up at K-State.. there's a reason he's been in Knoxville so much since leaving...

Either way - the dude wasn't a problem while he was here - he was a transfer casualty that commonly occurs when a head coaching change occurs. We are talking about current players.

I'd venture to say 80%.

Im talking about fully recruited. We can't say 2010 because Kiffin was instrumental in a lot of the players. Corey Miller wasn't a Dooley recruit. Bray wasn't a Dooley recruit (eventhough I heard he has done well this semester), so we really can't put a number on it.

He has a girlfriend here. David Oku came back to Tennessee a lot too because of his girlfriend. He definitely wanted to leave.

They aren't performing well.

So yeah, it's still on him. You can make three logical conclusions here:

1) He recruited a bunch of kids who don't care about academics.

2) He doesn't give a **** how they do in the classroom.

3) He is on their ass to do better, but they don't listen to him.

How can you defend Dooley here?

Eventually these kids need to either get with the program, or get out of the program. The world won't wait for them to just get it. Dooley can only do so much, and say so much, before the lack of understanding and effort falls on the kids. You can't blame the coach for everything, and the only thing that a HC is really judged on is W/L, and lack of NCAA investigations in today's age.

Says the guy who thinks a five minute meeting will suffice. Please. These kids are in college. They are considered adults and should be soley accountable for their own downfall. To say the coach is purely responsible for THIER studies is ludicrous.

Recruit players who are accountable and won't be in danger of getting kicked out of school then - simple as that - it all comes back to the coach no matter which way you look at it.

Guess who didn't say that?

Me.

I know he wasn't a problem, but everyone thought he would work hard and was a standup kid. A hard working, stand up kid is not going to give up because he doesnt like where he is playing. Coaches make mistakes, its a gamble with all of these players. Thats what im trying to say.

So then 65%?

Either way, the majority of the team is Dooley's.

#3 is on the player if true.

A successful coach will find a way to motivate his players to do whatever he wants them to do. If the players aren't listening then they need to hear another voice.

I know plenty of people who were good students in Hs and not college. It's a different animal and not many survive it.

Ok - well that's not the case for 1 in ever 3 students. And I can promise many of our recruits didn't have great GPAs and ACTs out of high school - so they don't fit that mold anyway.

So it has nothing to do with Claiborne being a hardworker? Players have to be self motivated to succeed.

The problem with you saying that all this is the players fault is how widespread it seems to be. If it were just a few then yes I would say those bad apples just aren't willing to hear the message. However with the degree in numbers being such an issue the one delivering the message is doing a very poor job.
