If they do a split specimen using a lab he can ask that the second specimen is tested. I have never seen a second specimen overturn the results of the first.

Actually, I think the process is to be retested in 30 days if you appeal. If he is clean at that time, then he is good. I THINK that is the process.

Could be both. Regardless of the ability to retest, the most common procedure is to split the sample from every specimen taken. If the first split comes back positive, the second split is tested. It's just a common procedure to eliminate false positives or mishandling.

However, if it's not his first positive test, I don't think he has the ability to retest after 30 days.
