About the zero sacks

For all the VN coaches so concerned about our lack of sacks, here is what our DC Banks had to say:

#Vols DC Tim Banks: Was our pass rush perfect? No. But our guys did what we asked them to do and I felt fine coming out of the game. They did a good job getting the ball out quick and when he held it, we were able to generate some pressure.

Also Alabama had zero sacks vs Utah State.

I'm not sure if it's been posted, but I saw today where Alabama didn't have a sack against Utah State either. Different levels of competition, etc. I just thought that was very interesting.

Edit: Oops. Didn't see the above post until posted.

All of that is true. And Banks is still beginning to concern me. They put BSU in a box and didn't let them out. Pitt will see blitzes and Beasley gives them another option now beside Banks. I think TMac will factor there big too.

I still do not understand why UT didn't put their corners in press man to challenge them vs BSU. UT is going to need that for the rest of the season.
I believe we may very well show that this week against Pitt. I think we’re pressing up on Wrs and challenging Pitt to beat us over the top and not just run the ball constantly. Give this Pitt QB a challenge similar to the one he got last week and see if he’ll respond.

Go watch the ball state four play turnover on downs drive that starts at around the 8 minute mark of the first quarter.
I’m not saying that I don’t thing the defense has potential. I just think there are holes. The defensive backs and linebackers will have to play tighter if we are going to beat FL, KY, LSU etc.

If you’re learning something from a glorified scrimmage against an opponent that isn’t playing the same game as SEC football teams you’re going to get your hopes up and your feelings hurt.
