Aaron Douglas Officially Gone

It just seems to me that ever since Fulmer left Douglas didn't want to be here. If it was his dream to be in Big Orange, he would have stuck with the program no matter what. It seems that something is going on in his head and has been looking for an out from football for a while. I wish him the best in his future endeavors. I just don't think anybody really knows the entire story and there are a lot of unknowns that have caused this outcome. If it was drugs, I would have liked to see the university have assisted him in some sort of rehab. If it was due to the coaching changes, I feel Dooley would have been able to talk him into sticking around. I just feel his heart wasn't in it, and that is the reason he is leaving the team. But then again I will preface all that I just said by saying I have no inside information and I could be completely wrong.......my girlfriend says I usually am.

I hate being in a position to defend Kiffin but most of last year's attrition was positive. He ran guys off who were either poisonous to team discipline or else weren't committed enough. A few may have been personality casualties... but not many.

The attrition has not yet been as great this year. Brimfield finally gave it up after not really giving his full commitment for 4 years.

Brown leaving stinks if it happens but the reasons are more than likely not public yet. If I had to guess, CLK made promises that CDD would not honor concerning his role or the types of schemes UT will run.

Douglas leaving is much, much worse but apparently has little if anything to do with what Dooley or even Kiffin did. If it is football related then it seems to be more a result of Fulmer's firing than anything else. He wanted a stable program and grew up when Fulmer was synonomous with UT football. Fulmer gets fired... he hangs on... Kiffin quits... he completely loses heart.

If you will remember it was AD that railed on Kiffin at their last meeting. He didn't even give Dooley a chance.

HMMMMMMM....I can think of a couple of things. :)

Oh. You mean like reporting legitimate violations committed by Bama? You guys that do this are a joke and show yourselves for what you are.

Your complaint is like a robber who blames the victim for calling the cops when he gets caught.

IF YOU DON'T WANT NCAA TROUBLE THEN DON'T BREAK THE RULES. It isn't the fault of whoever reported you that you broke them... IT IS YOURS.

That's not even what he was talking about...he is clearly jealous that we can count past ten...

Yes. Thinking that a .500 team losing its 2 best offensive talents in the offseason is no big deal reeks of ignorance.

No. It is a big deal though I would dispute that BB is one of UT's two best offensive talents based on last year.

The ignorance comes in when "fans" lay blame on CDD without any objective reason to do so... and excuse CLK even though much of what has happened is due to his very self-serving actions.

Dooley was a high risk hire. He was also probably about as well as UT could have done given the situation Kiffin left the program in. That doesn't mean that he can do no right and does all wrongs.

I love the Bama fans who come on here and laugh at our misfortunes of late. How soon they forget--or even know about, considering how many new "fans" they have--that they were in MUCH worse circumstances than we are now less than, what(?) five or six years ago...

This too shall pass.

If there is any bad "karma" it relates to UT's treatment of Clawson and his guys... Definitely not Bama's misdeeds.

I don't think anyone is saying his departure isn't a big deal. What is a big deal is that several posters have attributed Aaron's decision to be the fault of DD--that's what caused the large number of posts. That's what reeks of ignorance.

i guess every coach has his own style. where lane or pete carroll or saban might say to a player something like, 'i'd love to have the opportunity to be your coach,' dooley is more like, 'this is your only chance. if you don't want it, don't let the doorknob...'.

For anyone to put the blame on DD is an idiot , read the article where David even says it has nothing to do with DD,that pretty much sums it all up.Now were into this Kiffin ran people off that was poisonous to the team, you have got to be kidding me.He ran kids off becasuse he could or they left because they seen what an ass he was and Im thinking they seen him for what he was and left.

what?

if bad "karma" were coming from anything it would most likely be in repay of too much pride/arrogance

and to the other guy who said it has to do with bama...it doesnt

Your coach is at USC being an attention whore. When will you realize that PR is a non-essential part of college football.

BTW, where were all of the anti-Kiffin threads when half the freakin' football team quit last year?

there were a fair number coming out about that, but it got labeled as being "fulmerites" a lot by the opposing side

of course though too you've got the other extreme (not saying you) who can't grasp that when you're rebuilding AND you go through 3 coaches in 3 years - including the recent guy who popular opinion might be that he's really just going to be a placeholder for a few years b/c we had to get someone - that sh-t like this is going to be happening to your team for a while till everything gets stablized again
