Aaron Douglas Officially Gone

Aaron Douglas just must have been a bad player so this move is a way to open up a roster spot because a good coach is not going to let a player leave over a little personal issue.

What ? where did you come up with the bad player ? you dont make freshmen all american and be a bad player. You dont really know nothing about football I take it.

First he was (by many, many accounts) a stoner; now he's a quitter. Vaya con Dios.

Asking for your release is not trying to get sober. Asking for your release is quitting on your team.

losing BB was no big deal we got plenty of 5 star backs to take his place (not), now we get AD saying he wants a release to play elsewhere and it's no big deal. Both of these decisions coming on the heels of the great Dooley saying one there was no problem with BB that he knew of and that AD would miss a few practices but be back. Now we learn that they both want to leave and play elsewhere...huh all of this happening around a coach that said I am not here to recruit current players I am here to coach. Well let me inject right here that if this lightweight doesn't start recruiting our current players we will be facing the biggest losing season in Tn history. How the F@#$ can you Koolaide drinkers say no big deal? Its his program he can do what he wants? he needs to build his own program when every piece of evidence we have shows him seeming to not have a clue what is going on around him. This Mr. Dooley needs your immediate attention!

Go sail your boat mouth breather

We have some whiny *****es for fans, oh the sky is falling we've lost two players during a coaching change. Some of you are pathetic, and this board is getting more and more unbearable because of you.

Some people post just to post...and it seems that Volnation has become an outlet to deal with anger management...

“It doesn’t do anything to me because he was never here. I’ve never seen Aaron even jump over a bag."

“There was a point where we were going to have to have a talk,” Dooley said of Douglas’ inactivity during off-season drills and the first two weeks of practice. “Certainly we’re always going to support our players when they are having problems, but there’s also a responsibility that every player has to the team.”

How exactly is this DD's fault? Kid doesn't want to put in the work at UT...for whatever reasons...

there is no better town than maryville. Championships much? Haters...

Anyway I know Aaron very well. This isn't because of Dooley or the fact that he doesn't bleed orange. Both of this kids parents went to UT and he has been a vols fan his entire life and will always remain a vols fan. He has multiple personal issues that he needs to deal with before he can ever think about a career in football. That is the reason for his release. From someone who is close to the situation, for him to transfer would be one of his best life decisions even though it is not the best for the football team.

So, if he needs to focus on other things that his career in football, why is he looking to transfer rather than just leave the UT football program? Does he just plan on using the next school's football scholarship to focus on non-football related issues? If he needs help, then go get it, but why transfer?

wouldn't be shocked if he eyes USC. Not saying Kiffin was meddling, but if Douglas has a sweet tooth for the sweet leaf then he could much easier fly under the radar in So. Cal.

Exactly... they have rehab in Knoxville, don't they?

One of the more common things stressed is, "There is no geographic cure for an addiction problem; because no matter where you go, the problem (you) will still be there". When they say to change your playgrounds and playmates, they're saying find new friends who don't use, and stay out of the bars, parties, and drug houses... not move to another city, state, etc... There are drugs and drug dealers (legal and illicit) in every city and state in this country, and they ain't hard to find if you're looking for them.

This is actually not true. For many, sobriety requires them to escape their setting, and the best way to do that is to move where you can start over fresh. Much harder becoming sober in the same city where you know the drug-dealers and have lots of friends that are still involved in drugs.... You are right that there drugs in every city, but it isn't nearly as enticing to hang out with guys that you don't know just b/c they do drugs. Whereas if you stay in Knoxville then it would be very hard to make sure a life altering decision knowing that you can't really hang out with your friends anymore unless you want to surround yourself around the one thing you are trying to avoid.....

In other words (sorry I'm rambling), sobriety REQUIRES altering your life in a drastic way. It is easier to do that in a new setting where you are forced to alter everything (favorite restaurants, comfort zone, friends, etc) than it is to do it in the same setting where you are already comfortable and you already have an established group of friends....

Usually, when a player leaves the program after extensive drug-related problems such as AD has been reported to have, the normal comments on this board have been along the lines of "Good riddance pot-head" or "We don't need a bunch of drug using thugs in the program". It seems odd that now that we have an unproven coach that many posters have decided to hate, even before he's coached his first game, the character standards for the program have been dropped in order to find more fault in CDD.

If Dooley had ignored the problems and welcomed him back with open arms, the same guys that are dogging him now would be dogging him for lack of disipline.

All of you people need to just STOP IT NOW !!!

The kid was hurt in high school and this started way back then.

This is his PERSONAL problems !

This does NOT have anything at all to do with CDD or his staff.

There's several MILLION people that got accidently addicted to pain Meds after a injury and this kid is NOT the only football player that's happened to.

He also has some anger issues as was PROVEN when he put his fist through a car window after a altercation with his girlfriend.

He wants to play TE but at his size and growing most coaches will want him to play OT so he's going to have to deal with that too.

This is a very young man/kid with lots of problems that he needs time and professional help to deal with and sort through.

Best of luck to you kid and I hope you can get your life back on a good road again.

Some of you need to THINK about how you would feel if this was YOUR child trying to figure out how to deal with so many problems.

Kiffen & Co. knew all about these problems and did NOTHING to try and help this kid and just pushed and used him for their own self-interest.

CDD has been trying to give the kid and his family the time they needed because it's their PERSONAL family business and I agree with everything CDD has done in the short time he's been here.

Tennessee football is BACK on the right road to rebuilding to be a National Powerhouse again and ALL the players now know to do things the RIGHT ways and to be responsible and to work hard and EARN your way to a starting position or to go elsewhere.

GO BIG ORANGE

Mature response. Dooley has a string of events now that seem to indicate he is over his head. He might not be but ever since NSD I can't find one thing he's done well.

Same type of thing happened at Bama when Saban took the helm. Was he in over his head?

Goodness gracious.... Are there any moderate / middle of the road posters left on this board? It seems like it's either the Koolaid Krowd or the Hate Brigade all the time.

So you're saying we're a microcosm of the American Nation. And I think you're right. My guess is CDD is going to ride this out just fine. Some of the decisions I've make me nervous. I hate to lose good players. But I have no choice but to trust that, since he actually knows the situation and I don't, he's making good decisions.

But I don't want to see Tennessee tarnished by a lack of discipline, integrity, respect, or control either.

CDD seems to have his head on straight in that regard and is focused on doing the right things to build a program for the long haul.

It sounds like the kid needs a serious treatment program and to stay out of football for a year to get his problems straightened out, then decide if he wants to play again or not.

You obviously have facts we don't have. What has he done wrong in this instance?

What has he done wrong with Bryce Brown? I don't know the facts as well as you do so I need some clarification please.

Thanks in advance for your response.

This stinks, but nothing we can do at this point. If he feels unhappy with the constant changes to the coaching staff, then he was sure to bolt. I'm betting he wishes to land somewhere that has more coaching staff stability. But, what do I know?

In spite of this bad news, perhaps he will get things straightened out and come back.

Earlier in this post I saw alot of "goodby dooley" crap! If your one of those 11 year olds posting that stuff... stop! Dooley is trying to turn TN into a respectable / high caliber program again! His disipline and character development will bring alot better athletes to UT in the future! Imagine sitting in your living room talking to a coach from a program that has winning tradition, large fan base, and a quality education. Now all of a sudden this coach starts telling your parents about how they wanna help develop their 18 year old, on and off the field. He**, my parent wouldnt give me a chance...they would sign my LOI right there on the spot for me! What I'm saying is...give Dooley a chance. He's not even brought a full recruiting class in yet or coached a game! I respect what he is doing and will support him all the way to the top in a few years!

Maybe Dooley doesn't prefer to wear the orange vest over the camouflage the way Lane did.

What's this Maryville crap? Anyone who's ever been around there knows that it's - Murvle not Maryville.
