Aaron Douglas Officially Gone

I love Maryville. IMO, there isn't a better town in Tennessee. (Not that I've lived in a whole bunch of different towns. Just my 2 cents.)

In all of Tennessee?

It's like little Mexico these days, factor in the constant sound of an airplane landing/taking off...I would rather live in Western Heights.

only to pass through, don't really know any details about Maryville. Did notice there seems to be a disproportionate number of problem players from there.

Having played for all four years at Maryville, I would say that this comment is way off base. One player that is addicted to meds does not mean that the Maryville community is a bunch of crazy pill popping meth heads.

there is no better town than maryville. Championships much? Haters...

Anyway I know Aaron very well. This isn't because of Dooley or the fact that he doesn't bleed orange. Both of this kids parents went to UT and he has been a vols fan his entire life and will always remain a vols fan. He has multiple personal issues that he needs to deal with before he can ever think about a career in football. That is the reason for his release. From someone who is close to the situation, for him to transfer would be one of his best life decisions even though it is not the best for the football team.

Everyone is jealous of Maryville...you got it.

Little Mexico? What parts of Maryville are you hangin' out in? I don't see a disproportionate amount of latin Americans when I'm there.

Go to Wal-Mart/Home Depot/Lowes...I don't hangout in Maryville...Ever been to the Green Acres Flea Market? Have you been recently?

Lolz. Of course there is gonna be mexicans at the home depot. Thats disney world for them.

Lol...anyway, thread is getting off track.

Douglas leaving is not good for the team but if it's better for him then I am all for it...good luck to him in the future.

Im not really trying to bash Maryville, Im curious as to why several players from there have had problems at UT recently. Since Maryville is a bright spot in producing good ball players in Tennessee(which is not a great hs football state). This seems a reasonable question.

damn thats racist. if you live in the south nowadays then there is a good chance of mexicans living in the same town you do.

I don't think you have a grasp on just how many were talking about here...there are apartment complexes where every tenant is Mexican, no exaggeration.

Coincidence?

The Wal-Mart in Alcoa is that way. The one on 411 isn't. Home Depot is also in Alcoa I believe. And Green Acres Flea Market? Really? I don't know whether that's technically part of Maryville or not, but it's way out on Alcoa Hwy.

How many players from Maryville can you think of that have had problems at UT? ONE!!!!! That's not an epidemic.

Sucks...apparently he hasn't been happy here for awhile though, it's best for him to move on to somewhere that he is. Now it is time for Schofield and Thomas to man up, and get ready to play SEC football.

and there are 20 in each apartment....

what does this have to do with aaron douglas... is he a mexican?

Reminds me of a song.

Well, there's blood on the carpet an' holes in the walls:
Well, it must've been them pills I took.
Yeah, the mirrors are all busted an' someone's cryin':
It must've been them pills I took.

"I can tell you this was a gut-wrenching decision," David Douglas said. "It had always been Aaron's dream to play at Tennessee, but it just wasn't right for him. He even mentioned it a couple of times last year that it didn't feel right. It's not coach Dooley's fault, and I told him that. I understand how tough it is to lose your most experienced offensive lineman, but Aaron just wants to get away."

This season just got tougher, but oh well. Looks like its better for him that he leaves.

Too bad for Aaron. I wish him the best. The article reads like DD drew the line and said to get it together or leave. I hate to lose a good player like this, but DD's message to the team is that he will not tolerate players who do not participate. This will give pause to those who try to use excuses to get out of practice or drills. I am not saying that Aaron was doing that, but the message was sent.

The tragedy is how many UT players have thrown potentially great careers away because of drugs---not to mention millions of other people. The puzzling thing is that they see it happen to others and still do them.

Several were mentioned earlier in this thread as being from Blount County. If that isn't true, my apologies.

It's all good. To clear things up, Maryville is a town in Blount County. Brandon Warren and Dustin Lindsey, who I believe were mentioned, are from Alcoa. They are adjacent towns, but Alcoa is sort of an impoverished town while Maryville is a little bit more wealthy.
