A Tale of Two Basketball programs

I'll use your standard of counting wins at nowhere programs as impressive and see how many names I come up with. I assume I can count JUCOs, high schools, middle schools, and training leagues. So, since it doesn't matter where you win, I'll start a free form list: Mike Dunlap, Herb Magee, Rick Insell, Bob Hurley, Danny Hurley, Bud Pressley, Bill Self, Jody Wright, Ben Howland, Bill Self, Gary Williams, Sylvia Hatchell, Van Chancellor, C. Vivian Stringer, Tara Van Derveer, Izzy Washington, Stank Brown, Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams, Andy Landers, Bob Huggins, Thad Matta, Jim Calhoun, Geno Auriemma, John Calipari, John Beilein, Joe Carson, Steve Shipley, Ben Howland, Lon Kruger, Jon Loyer, Gib Arnold, Gary Williams, Rick Barnes, Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan. I'm now bored with this exercise, but suffice it to say there are probably 80 more names I could add without much thought.

79, you counted Bill Self twice.

I'll say this for Pearl. He's beaten the National Champion his past two years at UT. There's a pretty good chance that things will work out so that he did it again this year, as well. He's no chump. He lost to a Louisville squad run by Rick Pitino with a roster you said earlier was better and deeper than Tennessee's. There's no shame in that.

Hat, I've had about enough of your arrogant posts that I call garbage. You are nothing more than a wannabe lawyer who thinks he is twice as smart as he really is. You think you know more than anyone on this board and you've apparently brainwashed a few on here to even ask you a question when they don't know. Some on here think that you are a walking encyclopedia or dictionary. The more I read from you the more apparent it is to me that all you do is sit around and post on volnation all day and claim to be some all knowing expert at everything in the universe. Saying that Bruce Pearl is not one of the best 50 coaches in the country is ridiculous. I guess that is why Kentucky and Indiana would both love to have him. Just because people don't agree with your opinions doesn't make them wrong or dumb. When I hear that Brad Paisley song about being so much cooler online, I think about you and how just maybe you are some lonely old guy who has fooled everybody into thinking he is some savy lawyer who knows everything about sports over the past 50 years. Your bullyish attitude has gotten old and I'm tired of it.

He's not a 'wannabe lawyer'... He IS an attorney.

Kentucky never came after Bruce Pearl or showed any interest in him whatsoever.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. You can bash people and they take up for you. Another hat follower. OK Dickens or hat follower, forget the argument about Kentucky. Do you really think Pearl is not one of the 50 best coaches in the country? My post was one of frustration over several months. Attorney/Lawyer. What's the difference? The world needs less of both of them and they all think they know everything. If no one else on here has the guts to say what I said, I guess I will stand by myself. I'm tired of seeing this guy belittle anyone that has an opinion that is different or challenges him. If you want to continue getting run over, then keep taking it but I choose
to oppose him.

I'm not sticking up for anybody. I'm sticking to the facts.

I'm not getting run over by anyone.

Okay maybe I judged you prematurely but it was just a few weeks ago that UK fans were talking about wanting Pearl. Attorney or Lawyer, you get my point. I didn't mean to bring you in this Dickens.

wow, you are BRAVE. Are you sure you want to continue without your armor?

By the by, I don't think I read that there are 50 better. The comment was that there are 50 with better resume's, which is probably pretty close to true.

I'm not taking up for hat because he is capable of handling his own affairs, but supporting his point that Pearl's resume' doesn't yet deserve a parade. Right now he espouses a style of ball that does not tend to win on the biggest stages. That bodes well for decent records and making the dance, but the biggest games will likely find us lacking.

I don't see the problem with that. I personally like Pearl and like what he's done for the program in many aspects, but I don't expect to win the big games with our style of play. We might have been watching that change later in the season, but it was for the worst. Personnel didn't support our style at the end of the year.

Hat, you know I respect your opinions on basketball, but since the loss you've looked like a giant ass here. No better than the drive by fans you continually criticize.

I was hoping to bait hat with this but you beat him to it. I know he only said that there were 50 better resume coaches out there but he seems to not like Pearl. He probably wants Billy G to come coach us. After watching bball over the past two days, I'm convinced that there are at leat 10 if not 15 teams out there that are more talented than our Vols. Bruce has gotten alot out of a little talent.

Guess what? I couldn't care less what you think or what you're tired of. Now, go try to sell an old lady some insurance.

Don't flatter yourself. You're as much of a challenge to me as the Washington Generals were to the Harlem Globetrotters.

What is this complete bashing of Pearl? The dude's been here three years and turned a program around 180 degrees.

Yes he has underachieved in the SEC & NCAA tournaments (based solely on seeding), but he has taken Tenn to new heights. He doesn't deserve elite status yet, but to say he isn't one of the 50 best current college basketball coaches is absolutely ridiculous.
