A scenario that could play out...

We somehow win 3 of 4 with all of us hoping and believing that we can run the table. We dominate the bowl finish 7-6, all with JG at the Qb position and Chryst contributing a bit down the stretch. Recruiting we finish with a top 10 fill our needs class. Offseason we get bigger and stronger, return all 11 off an improving offense, including a now 230+ lbs JG and prayfully a healthy Trey Smith at GUARD. Banks gains 25 lbs and plays a key role in improving our defense in 2019 (Pruitt will improve the defense and playing against 4-6 new QBs will help).
Next season starts with a veteran team and our weakest schedule in 2 decades, the Vols go 11-2 or 10-3 with Pruitt's 2nd big bowl win. All of a sudden Pruitt's record is 17-9, 2 top 10 classes and Alabama at home in 2020! Odds, I don't know, maybe as low as 10%, high as 80% should we get on a roll. We've all heard why this can't happen, it's time we all start believing in these kids and this staff, our head coach, starting qb and even old Bob on the radio because the facts are simple, this very well could be our only path to get back to where we all want to be. Obviously all of this goes south at 4-8 or 5-7 so no need in any NegaVol comments as this is just my view as I see it. Goodnight!

Dream while you can but when you wake it will be a nightmare.
And like the way you try and appease all those in the quarterback camps but it ain't working and will not fix JG's lack of seeing, reading and avoiding the blitz nor will it convince the coaches to give KC any playing time.
And no matter what happens at this point Pruitt still has a lot to prove.

@PulaskiVolFan I see 6 to 8 wins next year depending on injuries. Also, I'll whittle 6 to 8 down the more I see this staff in action this year. Mobile enough QBs, with decent arms, who can execute read option and rpos is concerning me with this staff defensively. Hopefully it's all talent and miscues ( mentally from the players ) that is the issue and not scheme, and or fundamentals, and or eventual recruiting missteps. Also, the offense is an obvious concern. Thankfully we have seen incremental improvement there at least.

I firmly expected this staff to get 5 wins this year, and thought we had the talent to win 6. So far, so good. Obviously I factored in the schedule and the install of new offense and defense, not just talent alone.

Next year, incremently better. I firmly expect 6 maybe 7, but looking for at least 1 more. Gonna whittle it down more specific the more I see this year.

Projecting on out, considering Pruitts lack of experience, I think ( I'm talking probabilities here. Nothing definite, just scaling percentages from least to best ) we most likely see the prime/peak of what Pruitt can be as head man around year 8. Still a chance, though smaller, that years 6 and 7 Pruitt peaks and hopefully his peak is good enough to get us an sec title ( but, if saban is still going strong at bama this could be an acceptable road block. He is the goat after all ).

I only read the first sentence but figured that if you can see that far into the future and derive 6 to 8 wins from what we've seen this season ... well I figured I'd ask you what next weeks lottery numbers will be. Powerball? Megamillions?

Unfortunately I think Trey is done. I'm no expert, but I don't think his issue is anything to play around with. Jmo.

Blood clots will require that he take some type of blood thinner (AC) to prevent them and that means that a bruise or a cut could be serious so I don't think he'll play until they figure out what is causing the clots and correct that.

Minus Ty Chandler who I feel is a stud, tell me why this group is going to be good because they are 8 months older??? I am not as optimistic.

Vols should make a bowl game next year anyway. We will still be weak at the line of scrimmage so it won't be a great year. Coach Pruitt is going to need three recruiting classes to turn things around. We will have to be patient. I know it's difficult but we have no choice.

I would say until we have about 3 good classes we won’t see UT near the top of the East. This roster is just so small and depleted with very little SEC talent it is gonna take a few years. Sad but true

I see that to a point, reality is that it's a numbers game. This season we have 24 starters and another 15 or so contributing, around 40 playing with 25 more developing.
Next season we return 20/24 starters including all on the offensive side, we will also have 40 (25 from last season and 15 new additions incl transfers, jcs and fr) players competing for playing time including 5-10 new Freshman pushing for time with 10-15 developing rs fr.
A year in the S&C program and a weak schedule, us with a veteran QB next season points to success I feel.

Don't get me wrong, I'm liking Pruitt, and I think he'll turn it around. I just think it'll take a couple more years. I hope it's sooner, next year's schedule is in our favor, so I'm hoping.
You gotta be feeling a little better now!! 8 game winning streak going into jawga next year, looks like it could happen!

I missed this one by 2 games I feel. Looks like a chance to finish 8-5 this year and possibly as high as 11-2 next year giving CJP a 19-7 start which would be incredible all considering.

Guess you still feel this way?

I'll answer. We win Saturday, and that's it. I hope for a miracle and we win 6, but I personally don't see it. Next year should be a tad better 7 wins, 8 if we get lucky. We're 2-3 years away from winning 10 games, if Pruitt is the right guy. I hope I'm wrong. Screenshot this, and hopefully you can rub it in later, but we're on the same "magical" path we ended on last year.
Path is better now, you gotta see it!
