A scenario that could play out...

Not really. Some high flyers from my area though the years though. Fred Jenkins, Tyler Smith and Shelia Frost, she could dunk a volleyball. Larry Marks from Columbia was a good high school player back then. Some really good basketball players both guys and gals in the Tennessee Valley and N Alabama region over the years.
Sheila Frost was a year behind me on the Hill. Watched her play many times as well as Fred Jenkins. If you are in the same air space with all those cats, dont nobody want none.

Until Tennessee get's an Elite QB, next year will always be next year

We can win plenty with Guarantano, who protects the ball, is fantastic on converting 3rd downs and is currently the 4th rated qb in the SEC, only behind Tua, Fromm and Ta’amu and actually a spot or 2 ahead of Drew Lock.

Stop looking past the 7-8 very good to outstanding plays that he makes in order to get to the 1 or 2 ones that you think are poor in order to validate your biased, erroneous narrative. Pruitt said JG was “excellent” on about 9 out of every 10 plays vs SCar and Pro Football Focus had him rated (appropriately if you actually watched the game) as our highest rated offensive player last Saturday.

For us to win at a high level we have to get light years better on both lines of scrimmage and that’s gonna take another recruiting class of studs, of the guys Pruitt wants, at least. We’re talented at the skills positions on offense, just gotta get the supporting cast around then up to speed.

We promising young players at corner and safety....I hope Banks bulks up and gets moved permanently over to linebacker, that Bituli and the others can be developed upward at ILB and that Peterson (rush OLB) Deandre Johnson, Gooden and some newcomers can vastly improve a weak DL.

Finally, continue improving the culture and competitiveness of this roster.

QB is one of the very last, if not the absolute last concern of this team going forward into 2019 and beyond imo.

I was a freshman in HS Shelia's senior year. I think Fred graduated Columbia Central in 84 as well. He dunked all over us 2nd time we played them his Sr year. Both of them were big time players and really down to earth kids. Shelia makes it back home to Pulaski pretty regularly I believe, she and Bridgette were dominant at UT!

What narrative? Because I think Tennessee can do better at QB? Because I don't believe there is an Elite QB on the roster, KC included. I believe IMO, that Tennessee needs to land an Elite QB to get to the next level. Do I think JG can win 8 or 9 games a season here? Yes, I do. Do I believe JG will lead Tennessee to an SEC East title? No and I hope I'm wrong. And you're right, Tennessee doesn't have the pieces up front on either side of the ball but looking past that there needs to be a game changer at the QB position to get to the next level.

I think getting elite offensive and defensive lines are more important than elite QBs. Alabama has an elite QB and they probably have the best football team I have seen in years. However, they have won a bunch of NCAA titles in the last few years without an elite QB because they had better Lines than anyone they played. If we had O&D lines as good as Alabama"s, we would have lost only one game so far this year and would be playing for the SEC Championship this year, even with first year head coach.

I never said that. HS varsity in basketball and baseball as a so-sr and golf all 4 years. A guy named Dewayne Horton played my spot in basketball, he was a great player, way better than me. I got to play a bunch Sr year, our team was loaded back then. Baseball has always been my favorite sport, I coach the American Legion Post60 19U team here in town the last 6 summer's. We've had 30 or so of those guys move on to play college ball. We usually have kids from as many as 8-10 area schools represented. Tracey Wheeler from Pulaski played baseball on the UT team while you were enrolled there.

He was a pitcher, I remember him. Dewayne Horton go to Syracuse and play?!?

You obviously can't comprehend simple reading either. Should it play out that way Pruitt would be 2-0 in bowl games with one of them being a New Year's day bowl. Curious as to what path you see the rest of this season and next year chicken little.
I'll answer. We win Saturday, and that's it. I hope for a miracle and we win 6, but I personally don't see it. Next year should be a tad better 7 wins, 8 if we get lucky. We're 2-3 years away from winning 10 games, if Pruitt is the right guy. I hope I'm wrong. Screenshot this, and hopefully you can rub it in later, but we're on the same "magical" path we ended on last year.

I don't rub it in ever, unless I know you!! I'm high on Pruitt, dude is perfect for this job and all great coaches start turning it on year 2. Next season Our schedule is weak, we have a strong class coming in and return a tough veteran leader in JG at the QB position. We return 21/24 starters, 10-15 will get off redshirt and 10-12 new Fr will find playing time alongside graduate transfers and C.C. guys, now all of a sudden we have 50-60 quality SEC kids competing for playing time, with another 25 developing for 2020. With a week schedule, an experienced QB who can distribute the ball and the above numbers I believe the end of a successful year this season could spring board us into possibly a 2nd or 3rd place East finish next year, finishing 9-3. We need our S&C departments to step up big in the offseason and I believe it will.

Don't get me wrong, I'm liking Pruitt, and I think he'll turn it around. I just think it'll take a couple more years. I hope it's sooner, next year's schedule is in our favor, so I'm hoping.

We were never on a magical path with Jones as he was a garbage hire from day 1. Only time I ever saw a gym teacher make millions!

That will likely make too much sense for our simple minded NegaVols to grasp, tone it down a bit please sir! :) I agree, nice post.

I like your enthusiasm, Pulaski. But man you really need to drop this thing of personally insulting anyone who disagrees with you. The constant belittling of everyone else's intelligence doesn't make you look more intelligent. Developing a tolerance for ideas and people that differ from your viewpoint is a healthy thing to do.

I'm with some others, in that I think it'll take more than next year. Yes, next year's schedule looks GOOD, and it'll be nice to have added depth. But Pruitt and a lot of his staff are learning on the job. They haven't even really established chemistry themselves yet. And even though there will be more bodies, that doesn't mean they'll be experienced or conditioned yet.

I think my biggest concern is the offense with JG at the helm. He is operating right now with the bar set very low. But he is eventually going to have to show that he can lead the offense when it really matters. He has been maddeningly inconsistent to date, with crazy peaks and valleys. I want to see him convert when the game is on the line, lead us on a game winning (or at least giving us a chance to win) drive. Do something to prove he can lead this team before I crown him the king. He's improved some, but it also appears that he's hit a ceiling at average SEC QB. Maybe Helton can work some magic in the offseason -we've seen it before with a good QB coach (helloooo Jonathon Crompton). That's what I'm banking on happening quickly, or it's next guy up.

We somehow win 3 of 4 with all of us hoping and believing that we can run the table. We dominate the bowl finish 7-6, all with JG at the Qb position and Chryst contributing a bit down the stretch. Recruiting we finish with a top 10 fill our needs class. Offseason we get bigger and stronger, return all 11 off an improving offense, including a now 230+ lbs JG and prayfully a healthy Trey Smith at GUARD. Banks gains 25 lbs and plays a key role in improving our defense in 2019 (Pruitt will improve the defense and playing against 4-6 new QBs will help).
Next season starts with a veteran team and our weakest schedule in 2 decades, the Vols go 11-2 or 10-3 with Pruitt's 2nd big bowl win. All of a sudden Pruitt's record is 17-9, 2 top 10 classes and Alabama at home in 2020! Odds, I don't know, maybe as low as 10%, high as 80% should we get on a roll. We've all heard why this can't happen, it's time we all start believing in these kids and this staff, our head coach, starting qb and even old Bob on the radio because the facts are simple, this very well could be our only path to get back to where we all want to be. Obviously all of this goes south at 4-8 or 5-7 so no need in any NegaVol comments as this is just my view as I see it. Goodnight!

I only hammer on the ones that you can tell are true blue never happy NegaVols, one of which was posting alternative facts about me and my business. I have no problem with good debate, that's a good post you just made, but old school fans are sick of hearing about nothing but our faults every single post by the same 20 - 30 clowns. Some of them I'm sure incite on purpose, most just to make fun of someone in a bullying fashion. They cry fowl and play the victim when someone calls them out for their actions. My 2 or 3 post calling them out worked em into such a frenzy that all they could do is attack me and I never once mentioned any of their screen names, funny thing is I don't see their post anymore unless I choose too and it's made my experience on VN a pleasant one as opposed to being in a high school recess class! NegaVols have been a problem to our program ever since the minority of their voices ran Fulmer out of town for Lane Kiffin and now some of the same ones had rather have Kiffin back in Hope's that they can finally say I told you so!
