A revolting development

Paul Bain is deciding to forgo his sophomore and junior season to enter the NFL draft. He tells the teams when to pick him, he doesn't take no for an answer. They made the 1st pick in the draft because he said so.

They actually made the 0th pick just for him. None of the other 1st picks were worthy to be ranked nearly as high as Paul Bain. Except Peyton was allowed to be promoted to 0.5th pick.

Thanks, man. Once I noticed all the craziness about him, I instantly hoped and still hope he would somehow manage to train himself into the a great player. Just so all the jokers jaws hit the concrete. Glad he is still a Vol.

He's good enough to play now. Butch just hasn't been able to back him off 90%, so he doesn't hurt everyone.

Paul Bain can eat 6 saltine crackers in less than a minute without anything to drink.

Montanatenn, you reminded me of one of the many great lines from Jeremiah Johnson: "Some say you're dead on account of this. Some say you never will be... on account of this." By the way, have you gotten any significant snow up there yet during this wacky winter?

Sorry VR. Went to bed. We had quite a bit of snow in Nov. and Dec. and a little in Jan. so far. Hope we get plenty, so we don't burn up this summer. Been pretty cold so we still have old snow on the ground and a good bit "up high" yet. Hope it stays. As Bearclaw said, "Winter's a long time goin up this high". "March is a wet muddy month down below. Some folks like it. Farmers, mostly".

Perhaps my favorite quotes from that movie were the following by Del Gue, who really captured the essence of the Rockies when he stated:

"I ain't never seen 'em, but my common sense tells me the Andes is foothills, and the Alps is for children to climb! Keep good care of your hair! These here is God's finest sculpturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here! And there ain't no priests excepting the birds. By God, I are a mountain man, and I'll live 'til an arrow or a bullet finds me. And then I'll leave my bones on this great map of the magnificent... "

And . . .

"Ain't this somethin'? I told my pap and mam I was coming to mountains to trap and be a mountain man; acted like they was gut-shot. Says "Son, make your life go here, here's where the peoples is. Them mountains is for animals and savages." I says, "Mother Gue, the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world", and by God, I was right."

That is, for me, the one must-see movie of the year. I realize that they filmed most of the movie in the Canadian Rockies and I fully understand the allure of doing so. However, without revealing too much of the plot, did they formally identify the protagonist as Hugh Glass and did they bother to point out that he was actually mauled by a plains grizzly in present-day South Dakota, rather than the Rockies?

He was identified, but the attack was in the Rockies. A fair amount of embellishment, but not much glorification that we are used to in mountain man type movies. Probably as close to reality as you'll ever see. Rough characters. Dark, wet and cold and cold hearted. You won't say much as you leave. Long movie, but intense throughout.

Did you like it as much as Jeremiah Johnson?

JJ is top 5 all time from a different era of film making, but it is timeless. Revenant may never be as endearing, but it is very realistic and a must see. I need to study it for a time. I will buy it and watch it for 20 years or so and let you know. Kinda like "True Grit" is very endearing. Corny as heck, but if it comes on, I watch it. I think I want to watch Revenant at a theatre again and see how I come out. It had a definite impact.
