A new gang rivalry on VN...

I hate to tell you, but passion, integrity, and a will to win don't put dinner on the table. Gruden's career win percentage (54%) speaks for itself; he wasn't getting it done at the pro level, and I doubt it would magically happen here. Speaking anecdotally, there are very few NFL-primary coaches that I can think of as surviving on the college level.

Grudenites and Doolanders both seem to have a flair for eschewing the objective/quantitative for the sake of the subjective/qualitative. If you want to confuse one or the other (or both) of the entrenched [coach]-ites, just quote facts and numbers and watch how fast the invectives begin to fly.

Career Record: 100-85.
Worst season:4-12
Following season: 9-7
Super Bowls: 1
Playoff appearances: 5
Seasons Coached: 11

It's funny how you use a percentage to hide the details. When gruden got what he needed, he won.

Grudenites vs Nega Dools

The Doolites has just become extincted after that Miss St game. Which side are you on?

Nega-dools. That garbage gruden thread is the worst piece of crap I have seen on here. 500 pages of garbage for every 1 page of useful information.

I can think of two. (Hint: they're both going to kick the $#!% out of us in the next two weeks)

Interestingly enough, neither has a Super Bowl on his resume either. I'm fairly certain Gruden would be a significant upgrade, and certainly wouldn't hurt recruiting.

Look at when the wins fell - he did a great job with other coaches' players, then fizzled. Link included to research material. I hide nothing, I just expect others to do their own work.

They aren't NFL-primary. A majority of their coaching career has been spent in the college ranks, so I didn't count them among that group. I was thinking of the likes of Charlie Weiss.

Mortgage the stadium and pay Steve Spurrier whatever it takes to get him, or quit your *****ing and let Dooley rebuild.

I don't understand the attraction to Jon Gruden. The guy has no proven success in the NCAA. And I don't have the patience to endure another another rebuilding project.

I want a proven college football coach who can come in and recruit the best players in the nation and get this thing turned around in one year. I want a Nick Saban.

I just don't see Gruden liking the recruiting aspect of college ball. I love Gruden, but I'd be surprised if he ever coaches college ball.

BTW, I also want Nick Saban.
