A good handgun

i think i would probably agree with you.

well no, but i thought something around 4.5-5 was what i needed? all of those that i saw were under 4.

I think you are a lot like me and prefer the full size barrel.

Barrels I've found around the 5 in mark:

Beretta 92fs
USP by H&K
MK 23 (maybe my favorite)
and 1911 models.

Legally I can not approve of this post, but, DD is moving up my funny poster list.

Blatto's the funny one. I'm like Tanto I nod a lot

indy....I've owned the Taurus PT, and have shot the CZ-75 a bunch..One of my best froends owns it, and the CZ shots better...you can shot the crap out of it even with the cheap ammo, and not have any jams...

The Taurus, is the only gun I've every sold or traded,,,Traded it in on a Beretta 9MM Desert Storm/Shield commerative edition...

good luck with your choice

While there are similarities the 75 really isn't any kind of "clone" of the BHP. One very big difference is that the BHP is "Single Action Only".* This means that the pistol must be cocked before you can fire. Like the 1911 that's no big deal for general shooting but if you're going to carry it and be "ready to fire" that means carrying "cocked and locked" (aka Condition One) with hammer back and safety engaged. Some people are uncomfortable with that. The 75 "can" be carried in Condition 1 with it's thumb safety but also gives you the "Double Action" ability to leave the hammer down and simply squeeze the trigger to fire.

I hope I haven't just confused you more than helped? :)

*There are different variants of both pistols, including a DA HP and a DAO 75 but the overwhelming majority of examples out there fit the above description.

yeah he explained that to me and showed me what it meant. I actually feel like i learned quite a bit today. he also said something about half cocking it because some people don't feel safe having it fully cocked. But other than the double action vs. single action, aren't they very similar?

I wish Indy would just go buy a damn gun. He's started at least two threads and still nothing.

i've only started one thread on this site. if i am gonna drop half a grand on something that will eventually lead me to drop much more money, i wanna make sure i get the best possible option i can.

i agree, although my friend told me that the barrel is not as important for accuracy as a lot of people make it out to be. He explained it to me, but i really didn't get it. It was while he was trying to explain how he thought a sig would be a better purchase for me than the CZ 75. have you looked into the CZ at all?

yeah i have pretty much eliminated the Taurus and the CZ is the front runner. I just don't know what else i should look at. I've been told smith and wesson, but idk.

He should just use the money to take taz to a football game. Would cut down on threads.

lol says the king of useless threads.

Anybody have an opinion on the Taurus PT 24/7?

Im not a huge Taurus fan but they're not that bad. I do like the double strike trigger capability, and I believe that Taurus is the only manufacturer to have that option.

For the ones who may not know what "double strike" is, after a misfire the trigger can be pressed again giving the capability of another chance to fire before the round is cleared.

i like the general info V&V. im learning a lot. we should change this thread's title to just "The general handgun info thread." Mods?

For those of you who have used bud's online regularly, how often do they get stuff back in stock? the CZ 75 i was looking at is now out of stock, so i was just curious if/when they might have more available...?
