A&E decides

My .02 cents.

1) Phil has a right to his opinion
2) I agree with gcb that even implied linking of homosexuality to bestiality is wrong but refer to 1)
3) AE has the right to remove him from their airwaves

4) Political correctness from any side is the real culprit here. Why we as a culture care so much about shielding ourselves and others from the opinions of others is the tragic mystery of it all.

I agree with everything here.

I think Phil Robertson is wrong for his opinions on homosexuality, just like I would think he would be wrong if he said blacks were an inferior race.

He can say what he wants though and I have no problem with that, no matter what I think.

His words were directed at a large populous. It probably pertains to most posters on this site. In reality a lot of people should be offended but only one group was, at least for now. I guess you can pick & choose what offends you depending on level of sensitivity.

facebook has certainly erupted into righteous indignation

I'm about ready to deactivate my account.

As I said, I don't have a big problem with what he said, but I'm not making this guy out to be a martyr either. It's getting embarrassing watching people almost worship this guy.

Yup.

Annoying as hell.

Yes but what got him in trouble is when he started condemning people to hell. We can argue about hell and what not, but that is a serious charge to most people. You can say that what they are doing is wrong, but Phil Robertson is not God. That's not his place to condemn anyone to hell.

So how does what he says make it true. It is his opinion tifwiw and move on. If I dont like someones opinion I dont take it personally.

He condemned more than homosexuals. I don't think anyone would or should have an argument about what he said.

reminds me of the Snowden debate - he's neither a hero nor a villain.

I don't either.

I disagree with Phil Robertson and he can say it.

My main point is that A&E have a right fire him if they disagree with his opinion. They are a private company. If they fired him for coming out saying he believes homosexuals are not sinful I would say they have a right to fire him.

He condemned somebody to hell?

He condemned somebody to hell?

He said homosexuality, sleeping around, etc is immoral and by the very nature implies one will be condemned to hell if they don't stop. So yes, in essence he did, just not openly.

Funny you should bring up chickens. A few years ago around here in West TN. a man's wife caught him in the hen house having a good time fornicating w/the chickens. After that, he was always called the chicken man...haha.
Not sure if you are talking about the same incident, but that happened in Lexington when I was in high school. Making chicken noises at the line of scrimmage when we played them was good times...except for the fact they beat us badly.

No he didn't.

I am sure he will admit he is a sinner too.

"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there," such as bestiality, he said.

"Don't be deceived," he was quoted in GQ. "Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."

Unless you interpret his words differently than I do, he is casting judgement.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

John 8:7

It is not his place to cast judgement.

So telling you what the bible says is casting judgment?

He also said;

"Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."

That is his own opinion, I also seem to remember a verse that says on God can judge and us.

It's his belief.

And in the same interview he said God will be the one to judge.
