A couple of Friendly(Gator) thoughts on the game

It would have took all of 20 seconds to look up Bray's stats before coming here and looking foolish

lol... a 25 yard field goal means you have the ball at the 8 yard line....

That is not average, that is terrible!

i said at best average - and for us that might even be an above average performance :)

basic point being we could struggle at all the things we have struggled at (kicking game and short yardage runs) - florida could outrush us - and we could still win the game

Tennessee averages the most rushing ypg in the SEC east at this point if you would check your so-called stats. We just do it with multiple people. "Gilly" is your only rushing hope. Better hope his groin injury heals up (I have had groin injuries playing football and they are not easy to bounce back from in a week).

Funny thing is 21-20 Tennessee down the stretch is what I had been thinking, only I have hoped for a late TD pass to push it out to 28-20 to prevent Sturgis from beng able to win it. I guess, in your dream, unlike mine, our last TD pass was knocked down, and we shanked a FG attempt, to lead to your GW drive.

Not anymore....BRODUS IS THE KICKER!!! :pepper:

If that's how you feel, bro. I said it was my bad.

At least you have the gonads to come on here. So you got a bad stat; big deal. If Bray had 4 picks I could see where you might think you have the edge; not this time. If you can establish the run then good on you but that eats up the clock. Bray has been scoring about every minute and a half. We don't have to throw the bombs to win but you guys are going to be doing a whole lot of running which should open up some running room for us. We don't have to win the run game, just keep you honest. You can't score as fast as we can. I think your offense is suspect. I don't think the score is going to be that close; UT by at least 21.

"In addition, UF is not going to be giving up anything deep."

Is that with or without pass interference?

I am a Gator fan and I have to say his entire game run down is totally off.

We commit alot of penalties, our QB is like a deer in headlights sometimes, our backfield is suspect to say the least, our RB is apparently hurt.

I havent followed you guys. I know Bray is good but if we are to win, a clearly better team will have to show up than the one I have seen in the first two games so far.

That said, NOONE knows what kind of team they have 2 games into the season, that includes the Vols.

Not to mention, other than pride, it really doesnt matter. Alabama is winning the SEC anyway.

Key words *should*. I think our corners are pretty good, but that's based on the competition we've played so far. I never said it would be a cakewalk. :good!:

Go watch the highlights from the #1 college CB, David Amerson from the Chick-Fil-A kickoff classic. He couldn't and I HIGHLY doubt FLs corners are anywhere as good

His analysis was copied and pasted from a Gator Board; I read those same bs comments over there this morning. Damn OP, if you're going to plagarize, at least copy off someone who knows what the hell they're talking about!

Did you by chance see the name of that poster at that particular Gator board? Those are my thoughts, and not plagiarized. But nice try on the spelling and attempt at the burn :)

I'm not good at trash talk, and I'd rather discuss football than get banned on a rival board. So, I'll chalk up my thoughts of this game, keys for a victory on either side and hopefully this will stir up some civil discussion.

Some Friendly thoughts:
This game is going to play out like the games of old, but with the roles reversed. (weird, huh?) Tennessee comes in with a high powered offense, one of, if not the best QB/WR skill players in the SEC and reminds me of a fun'n'gun style offense. I'm still not sure how your defense will look, and from the look of the past 2 games your LBers *may* be a little suspect.

Florida comes in as a hard nosed, grind'em out type of team that reminds me of Fulmer's Vols of the 90's. Gilly has been nothing short of superb and leads the SEC in rushing so far this season. The passing attack, while not great, has been very good. Driskel has 0 turnovers and completes a high percentage of passes. We also have a new OC from Boise State (who also coached Kentucky a while back if you remember). He has not opened up the playbook 100% just yet primarily because of the young QBs. I still don't think we'll open it up 100% for you guys, but we'll see more plays, trick plays, etc.

If the stats plays out this year, the team with the most rushing yards should win the game. I'm not sure how your run game is just yet considering the competition you played. If Gilly is able to play through his groin injury, we should be able to limit the number of possessions you have. In the same token, UT should take advantage of some big plays in the passing game. I think defense will dictate who wins this game.

Keys for Tennessee:
1) Limit turnovers. Bray has 0 turnovers. Which is good because he can't afford any if you expect to beat Florida, especially if we are able to establish the run game. You can't expect to score on every possession.

2) Remain healthy. I want this to be a clean, injury free game. You can't afford to have one of your key playmakers go down with an injury this game.

3) Play lights out defense. Contain Gilly, or whoever is our RB for the game. This ideally should be the #1 key.

4) Establish the run. Marlon whatshisname (sorry, name escapes me at the moment) needs to have the game of his life.

Keys to a Florida win:

1) We continue to be a disciplined team. No turnovers or silly penalties.

2) We come out to play for a full 4 quarters. Our defense can't afford to spot UT an entire half. We are more than capable of containing their WRs. TAMU has the potential to have an outstanding offense and we will soon see this in SEC play. Shutting them down in the second half was unbelievable. We need the same output from the D the entire game.

3) Gilly. It looked like he had a groin injury from his last TD run. I hope he'll be fine, but he will be a key to winning. Without him, Brown and Jones will really need to step it up.

4) Continue to open the playbook up for Driskel. I think we can all agree that the offense looked lightyears better than the last 2 years. We need to continue to open it up. I'd like to see some 5 yard slants and maybe some screens thrown in this week.

5) Limit the sacks. Whether it's on the OL or Driskel, we can't afford to have Driskel on his back.

6) Keep their offense off the field by winning the time of possession stat. This will be huge for us if we can limit them to 7 or 8 possessions for the game, or less.

This game will go either way and will be close. It will come down to defense, conditioning and depth. This is why I think Florida will ultimately win. Tennessee will hold a lead going into the half and through the 4th quarter, but our last drive we kick a game winning field goal.

Final Score:

Florida- 23
Tennessee - 21

I think you shouldn't post this since this is the dumbest opinion of your "blog" I ever read & you need to corrections Bray's int which he haven't be picked off yet. Vols is the one who has 4 INTS against NCST. Read stats before you post it....

LOL. I hope he plays very well, but seriously, where does FG range begin for us with Brodus kicking? My confidence in our ability to make FGs does not increase at all with the change at K. I hope we convert at least half of the time we go for it on 4th down, and I hope Brodus makes all of his PATs. If this game comes down to us needing to make a FG, I'll feel like I'm in a casino regardless of who's kicking the ball.

18 of the last 20 winners in our series had the most rushing yards. How hard is that to understand? The media harps on this every game since I was a student at UF. Other factors are going to be introduced when we play. It's never as simple as one single stat. But again, 18 of the last 20 winners, we'll get told time and time again by the commentators, have won the game.

Well last year we were realy tin, citing Hunter's injury on the first play and later Bray's injury. This is year 3 in the rebuilding process and not as deep as we would like to be but we have two very capable QBs who can get the ball out there to the many WRs we have. Our run game certainly is suspect, again, we don't have to be great, just not suck. I look for the refs to call a lot of pass interference on you guys as there will be more attention focused on it because your guys couldn't stop us last year without the PI; many of which didn't get called; they will certainly get called this year as we march right on down the field.

And it can play out this way. There's so many questions with both teams that 2 games have not been able to answer. I still think we keep it close, primarily because it's a rivalry game and I believe in my team. If I'm wrong and we y'all blow us out, I will be here the next day to eat my crow and congratulate you guys on the win. :salute:

Wild pack of bro's on the loose in here. Someone needs to bring in the net and clean it up.

Vols win 42-6.

I figured I would make a few predictions

1) We will go deep more than once (deep defined by a pass or end around of more than 50 yards

2) Florida will struggle mightily to make big plays in the passing game

3) Our kicking game will not be great - at best average as in no missed XP and no makes beyond 25 yds

4) Our short yardage running game will be poor or non-existent

5) We will be outrushed by Florida

6) Tennessee will still win the game

Only stat I care about.:good!:

We are more than capable of containing their WRs.
Really? Because you "contained" A&M's Fr QB and his 3 Fr WR's? Remember this. You "contained" an O that replaced 80% of its offensive production from last year primarily with Freshmen. Also remember they outgained you 334 to 307.

BGSU's leading receiver against you? A Freshman who avg'd over 10 ypc.

You may shut UT's passing game down... but that would be one of the most surprising things to ever happen in this long series. Odds are it will come down to whether you can keep up.

TAMU has the potential to have an outstanding offense and we will soon see this in SEC play.
Maybe. But Fr playing in their first SEC game should not have looked as good as they did against your D even for one half.
Shutting them down in the second half was unbelievable.
No it wasn't. It is what you should have expected the whole game from a team facing THAT O who returned basically everyone from the year before.

4) Continue to open the playbook up for Driskel. I think we can all agree that the offense looked lightyears better than the last 2 years.
No. Not really. You had 307 yds vs a team that avg'd allowing 378 last year then lost 5 of its top 10 tacklers and had a complete coaching and system change. Maybe you mean the 365 yds you put up against BGSU... which was a whopping 7 yds more than Idaho put on BGSU. Driskel had what?... 114 yds on them?

Idaho's QB was 30 of 37 against them for 352 yds. That's IDAHO as in the WAC team that got beaten by an FCS school in the first week.

I'm sorry, but can you please repeat this in English? "& you need corrections Bray's int which he haven't be picked off yet"? And you're trying to call me dumb? Come on, now. :lolabove:

This is the 1st time i've ever heard a UF fan say that they like Rocky Top..Well for that matter, any rival team's fans.

My little brother is a Gator Fan and I catch him when we are watching UT games together, dancing and bobbing along with the song! Everytime I pick on him saying it isn't that hard just to drop that blue color and say Go Big Orange!!! He still hasn't but it keeps things fun this time of year between us.

I guess the OP should get credit for recognizing the role reversal from the 90's... so how did that usually work out?

Also, their DB's can "contain" UT's WR's... if the officials let them get away with holding and interference on practically every pass. And I say that seriously... it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that the officials will "let them play". They have generally had a bias toward UF ever since the early 90's.

His English is poor... your facts are wrong. Then again, he didn't think himself worthy to write an analysis.

I see what you're saying, and I agree with some of it. The BGSU game was treated as tryout if you will. There were so many substitutions, it was hard to establish any rhythm. Driskel started the 1st quarter, then the 2nd half. That's a tough game to point and say your offense sucks.

The TAMU game is also unique in that they didn't play their first game, they were fired up for their first SEC game ever, and it was at one of the hardest venues to play in. I can go deeper, but I don't want to spend too much time on it, but essentially, Easely was playing out of position which allowed Manziel to run all over us in the first plus we had no film on a team that had a new QB (who will eventually be one of the SEC greats IMO, and a new HC that has an outstanding offensive philosophy).

There are many unknowns regarding both our teams. It will be settled on Saturday, though. I agree that this is your best chance in years, but you also have to admit that this has been said at least the past 2-3 years at least. If you guys win, I'll probably be the first Gator to congratulate you on this board.
