Not taking his side here, but if the adhan is supposedly noisy, the same argument will be made for Christian church bells.
People need to be careful not to make waves and think things through logically before jumping into the mix.
ETA: I do agree though, the adhan is annoying.
Good post GV.
I made a post in anterior thread a few weeks ago that applies here and goes along with what you are saying.
Christians need to be careful what they wish for. If the government can make religion A illegal it can also make religion B illegal.
I personally see no difference legally in allowing Muslims to have their call for prayer vs Christian Church bells. As others have said, if anything this is a noise ordinance issue.
Your ignorance is astounding. I stand up for myself constantly, but I am able to objectively analyze different situations.
Got a large islamic center "near" where I live in Orlando. It's large Branch Dividian-esque compound. They don't do the stupid blaring prayer calls; no one has a problem.
Have you even been to a place that does the prayer call? It's as about as antiquated as a stoning people to death for adultery. Oh wait, bad example when talking about Islam. It's about as antiquated as honor killing your daughter for premaritial sex. Oh dang I did it again. It's um, about as antiquated as using a sexton to navigate on the open water in a Norse Narr while seeking the rainbow bridge to Valhalla.
I hear church bells ring everywhere. It's also antiquated and unnecessary. I've got a watch, but the bells are culturally acceptable because I am accustomed to their sound.
To everyone worried about the impending Muslim invasion... you realize that IF (big if) your worst fears come to fruition... the atheists, agnostics, jews and all those other people you feel are coddled will be coming to your aid. Strange bedfellows and all.

Again, huge difference in bells and a call to prayer. And where do you live that you hear church bells? Here in Knoxville I can't think of the last time I heard one.

You do realize that other cultures have immigrated to this country and done precisely the same thing? Ever heard of Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Italy, etc. Hell the town this story is about was Little Warsaw. More fear mongering crap...

The call to prayer should absolutely not be happening and fall under noise related ordinances.
You're in America. You don't need someone screeching from a tower to remind you its time to prayer because your sun dial is on the fritz..
Yes you schmuck loud music all night while you are sleeping is noise. File a complaint.
Are there calls to prayers belting out over loudspeakers in little Italy? Did you read the legitimate concerns of non Muslim citizens in the town? The call to prayers and the no booze within 500 feet of the mosque are just the beginning. Their aim will be to replace the current peoples and culture with their own. Immigrants of old wanted to become part of their new country, not change it in the old countries image.
I'm actually surprised it hasn't been attempted yet. Don't want to force liberals to listen to what they find offensive ya know. My feelings don't matter. I think the churches should ring the bells along with the caterwallingSeveral of our local churches broadcast music, chimes or bells at various times during the day and evening. Sunday mornings are a particularly noisy time as many churches ring their bells prior to services. So if we ban the Muslim call to prayer, shouldn't we ban these as well?
The city also broadcasts holiday music over the loudspeakers down town, plus we have an annual Factory Whistle Concert every year. Should these go away as well?
