_Vols in NC...get out and vote!!! Need your help. MAY 8

That's the problem with liberals, when you have no aurgument you call names or shout bigot.

Then perhaps you should attempt to not be a bigot?

Seriously, give me an example of how it tramples on your rights, given the workplace laws in effect in this country? I'll wait.

Being a resident of North Carolina, born and raised, I can say that freedom and civil rights were trampled on yesterday, no matter what you try to shroud it under. It was already illegal for same-sex couples to marry in North Carolina. Now, a marriage between a man and a woman is the only legally recognized union. No more domestic partnerships. No more civil unions. The opinions and beliefs of the many have been used to deny civil rights of the few. Popular vote should never be used to impose limitations on civil liberties.

Earlier this morning, there was a show on The History Channel about the KKK and the Civil Rights Movement. I would like to think that we've improved, evolved, and educated ourselves better as a society since those times.

After yesterday, it's obviously still a work in progress.

Pathetic post. If you don't like it find another state to live in, pretty simple. Pretty typical of you all to bring up KKK and the Civil Rights Movement.

Let's say I own a business and have to give gay people the same consideration as straight people for job openings, even though I am Jewish and the Old Testament clearly states that gay people should be killed before I even have the chance to hire them. Doesn't not killing them trample on my rights as a business owner?

Right to associate. Freedom of religion.

And no I'm not a bigot, I could care less how the vote went. What is amusing to me is that all laws and proccedures were followed but since you don't like the outcome you bellyache and bit#h instead of working to change it.

I'd say a number of people will. Lot of friendly states looking for employees and employers.

No, read the bill of rights. The right to life, so your religous views do not trump my constitutional right to life.

As I said, shroud it how you like, but discrimination is discrimination. I don't want to lessen the atrocities of the Civil Rights era. It's not as if people were dragged through the streets or taken out back of the woodshed and executed yesterday, so Amendment One wasn't on that scale. But it is still discrimination under a shroud of morals and religion.

The funny thing is that there were two counties in western NC (Henderson and Jackson) that also had votes on various levels of alcohol sales within what had previously been "dry" areas. Alcohol sales passed by virtually the same numbers as Amendment One.

I guess folks like to pick and choose their moral outrages.

No, I don't like the stupid people that supported it. You know, like that majority that didn't even know what it actually did.

And yeah, working to change voter education in this country sure works out nicely when all you need to get people out to vote in North Carolina is say "HOT DAMN CLETUS, they's trying to let Adam and Steve get married, we gotsa go vote againt that one. Knaw wat I meen?"

I can't help that you are too lazy to educate your constituents. So call names, whine and follow the talking points.
