There was no excuse for this happening.

IMO it's on Butch and Dobbs. We have to audible or call a time out to get out of that play. You can't miss the unaccounted for linebacker. He showed what he was going to do and we didn't make any adjustment.

I loved the fight in the result of the game, but I'm still a little concerned about that sequence of events. Like Butch said before it's the little things.

I'd like to see Dobbs given more liberty out there to get us into the correct play or at least call a timeout when we know the play is going to blow up.

You're assuming Dobbs possesses the ability to make those kind of decisions. I don't think he can. His decision making ability still has as much room for improvement as his accuracy does imo. There are still glaring issues from players and coaches alike that shouldn't be there in year 3 of the program. Especially for Dobbs who only knows this system and a coaching staff deemed the best in America that designed said system.

My biggest gripe is not lining up under center on the third and 1 of the last drive. That said, punting was the only option. If you believe otherwise, you need to grab the football for dummies book that Jones and DeBord apparently read during the week.

If we run up middle on a first and goal from 6 inch line, we should line up under center with Tuttle or Mackenzie full back give it to Hurd for 6 every time. If we ran some I formation Hurd would have flornett type #'s.

It was a dumb call by Debord. Everyone knows it but some can't handle criticism after a win. Hell, most can't handle it after a loss.

**** it, crazy **** happens, the ball got sandwiched between two georgia players, it cant be helped, wasnt really on Hurd, and it definitely wasnt on Dobbs or CBJ, how the hell were they to know he was going to fumble? sure it wasnt going to be a TD run if he hadnt fumbled but still not their fault, cmon just celebrate for longer than 12 hours...damn

It was a great play by their defense. It's neither Butch, Dobbs, or Hurd's fault.

You don't have to be under center. You can still use a full back in gun or a te in motion. I dont like it if we aren't used to it. Could fumble the exchange is what I'm saying.

What am I reading? Hey everybody let's get together and criticize a player that played his heart out and scored 5 TDS and accounted for 400+ yards the morning after a huge win! Oh but Go Vols!

I agree that I don't like going out of the pistol so close to the goal line. However, coaches made adjustments this game. Opened the playbook some and it worked out. When they do that they get the benefit of the doubt on those plays.

Holy cow! Still? Enjoy this one for a little while, when you meet with the players tomorrow at practice you can fix these issues.

Just for once I want to see us line up in I-formation on the goal line and let Hurd leap over the top. Hell, put Kahlil at fullback and let him pound one in.

LOL, it was the exact call everyone thought they should've ran against Oklahoma at the 6 inch line, but now, it's a stupid call. Seriously guys.

I really think the refs were too slow to call the play dead. You can't let them hold Hurd up when it's obvious the plays stopped while GA players were trying to rip the ball from him. Maybe I'm just being picky there.

That play was like revisiting a nightmare back when it was Casey Clausen senior year, and we fumbled at the 1 yard line before the half & GA ran it all the way back for a TD and that opened up the flood gates for GA. We ended up getting blowed out in the 2nd half.

A discussion for Monday or Tuesday, I think.

However, we've opened Pandora's Box...

Fumble is on Butch. We have a 240 RB who is dragging defenders on every run. He is running over folks. Without a doubt he has more yards after contact than any other back in the nation. He is the best Vol running back since VFL34.

GET AN I-FORMATION SET-UP FOR GOALLINE AND GET THAT MAN RUNNING DOWNHILL. Find a fullback. Maybe Blair can do that. Or Khalil.

Then stay away from the grown up table if you can't handle real conversation

That sure is a real grown up comment. Sure that is a learning moment for coach and player alike but that was a good defensive play as well. Very rarely if ever in this board is credit given when it is due, it is always our coaches or players are the habitual screw-ups.

For all of you saying put Khalil in there as fullback to block for Hurd. You can't. They are the same number. can't be on the field together

I think the play got blown up when we ran into the guy in motion and it set the forward momentum back. it is what it is. But we won. Neyland was rocking. It was a great drive home
