You don’t get to go for 0 on an extra point that much. We need that luck again.
LSU and MC bowl at NC were cat kicking instances. 😂 South Carolina last year

His voice was cracking all over the place in that titans - chiefs wildcard game last year. KC had a scoop and score late in the game and he was going ape.... sounded kind of like screach calling a game, but then the ref had already whistled the play dead

I still can't believe it when people say Tee Martin is our best QB ever because he won a title. No doubt he had his moments, but he was not a skilled passer. And yeah I know about the USCjr game.

We all know what won us the title that year, a great defense.

The only sad part of that game was Travis Henry not getting 3 more yards rushing.

197 yards was amazing but it would have been extra sweet if he could have hit 200 yards running.

He damn sure deserved it.

I also wonder if we'll ever be able to recruit great players like those with starting depth 2 or 3 levels deep again.

That kind of depth is what keeps alaBummer and other top teams on top year after year.

Hopefully Pruitt and staff can get that going again for us.

VFL...GBO!!!

Lived in Memphis at the time and Arkansas fans were trying to say UT was lucky and the Vols sure didn't want to play them again in the SECCG. My response:
1. Tennessee closed that game on a 25-3 run. The Hogs didn't want any more of the Vols that year!
2. Stoerner "stumbled and fumbled" because Billy Ratliff pushed big ol Burlsworth back into the Stoerner and then beat everyone to the ball
3. Refs blew the call on the bad snap. Vols should have gotten the ball inside the 5 yd line on the illegal kicking of the ball. (half the distance to the goal from the spot of the kick).
4. That Tennessee team just flat out refused to lose and no one was going to beat them that year. And that includes Florida State even if Weinke or a reincarnated Johnny Unitas had been there QB!!

Well said. The thing where so many people miss it is in saying that Stoerner gave us the game by fumbling. As you astutely pointed out, it was essentially a forced fumble by Ratliffe who made a phenomenal play, after pretty much telling Tee he was gonna make a phenomenal play (and save Tee a tremendous amount of grief due to his awful play that day I might add).

And of course, after recovering the fumble, Tennessee lined up and ran the ball down Arkansas’ throat with Henry on 5 straight running plays to win the game.

As you so aptly responded, that wasn’t luck.

I forgot how bad Tee played that day.
Yeah, he went from never missing a receiver against sc, to not hardly hitting one in this game. Of course sc was so bad he was passing against air. Tee was an average college qb at best. He did complete some long passes that year and could use his legs on occasion. However he does have a street named after him, so there’s that.

Remember the 1998 Miami/UCLA game and the extenuating circumstances surrounding its playing? Fulmer and the 1998 Vols sure as hell do.

That was another great game that season. And it was immediately followed by the Big XII championship game, when Branndon Stewart helped Texas A&M beat the undefeated Kansas State.

On SEC Network right now.

Edit: Ha!
I remember the moment of the Sterner fumble like it was yesterday. Friends were slamming me on the back as hard as they could and I just sat there in a daze. Then I just said Phil don't screw this up just run Travis and finish the game out. That's what happened

Henry was like trying to tackle a bowling ball.
Or a 230 lb block of cheese. He was much like my favorite NFL player of all time -Robert Newhouse. Was able to run the ball as well as anybody, but was content to be the blocking back for Tony Dorsett.

I was at the game that rainy afternoon and I think this is the first time I have ever watched it on TV. Thanks for the heads up OP.

I forgot about us taking a knee after the 15 yard penalty for un-sportsman like conduct on the extra point after the go ahead touchdown... We are already ahead by 4 so 5 or 6 doesn't matter, very smart call by Fulmer...
