50 dead, 40+ wounded in nightclub attack in Florida

Does anyone need a reminder of the utterly useless "assault weapons" ban that ran from 94-04

It was a complete and utter failure. Blame the trigger puller, not the trigger.

The real answer is a well armed citizenry. The patrons of the club presumably thought they were secure. Gun free zones are not secure.

I'm ok with certain types of police having those at their disposal. SWAT being one. I do think it's a little overkill for a general police officer patrolling the streets needing anything more than a pistol with a few extra mags and a good solid shotgun. If they are trained or took their training seriously they should be able to handle or at least get control of most situations.

I can't go with that. I keep a carbine in my vehicle. Handguns and shotguns are not good tools to go to a gunfight with, rifles are always a better choice, always.

george w.bush.........the gift that keeps on giving. Yes, he's responsible and the right has the nerve to blame everyone but him. The vote to invade Iraq was bipartisan , that support was gained through false evidence presented by bush and his neocon buddies. This is exactly why the M.E. is in turmoil and why there are more terrorist than ever.
Now shoot the messenger and waste your time defending the indefensible . Unintended consequences are a b***h ain't they.

Blame Bush!

Awesome

Good thing there was no Islamic terrorism before we invaded Iraq...

patrol rifle > shotgun > pistol > harsh language

Trust me, the rifle serves a lot better purpose than a shotgun.

Personally, I'm fine with them having AR's and body armor. As we know, handguns are not the best choice to use in a fight.

I'd even be ok with armored vehicles, there are certain instances they could be useful.

The problem started when this stuff was being used in the drug war. End the drug war, and use the stuff against the truly violent criminals who ARE out there.

you don't think drug crimes are violent....cartels are killing 1000's

I understand that. But if all turns out as it appears to be, is it not concerning to you that an ISIS affiliated guy was able to arm himself this way ??

Here it comes. Fear mongering to take away our rights. It's how the patriot act happened. And it's happened countless times throughout our history. Trump, Obama, and Clinton all three have already mentioned wanting to ban those on terror watch lists from owning weapons.

More and more Liberty lost each day.

What if scenario unfolds and SWAT can get to the scene fast enough and forces the average patrolman to go in to face this type of situation? Wouldn't you hope they would have patrol rifles in the car?

Replace the shotgun with a semi auto ar. I'm ok with that. Just not ok with a military grade full auto. Again, in taking a regular beat officer.

It is awfully weird how the FBI is always aware of these folks..... Just saying

The Boston Bombers, the San Bernidino shooters, an now this. We have to assume that at this point and time some people high up allow these things to happen hoping that the end result is to grab more power.

I agree with this.

Hollywood shootout of '97 comes to mind. Was nothing LEO could do, had to sit and pray while they waited for SWAT to show up.
