5. Dire Straits

Lex, if I can find it, you'll probably love it. It's a Mark Knopler/Chet Atkins CD that is SMOKING. I've seen Todd Snider stumble around a couple of times.:)

I don't know if he still does it, but I used to go see John Prine play around Christmas at a tiny bar called the End Zone in Green Hills.

Todd is sober now..thankfully. He is a wordsmith. I have Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins CD it is called "Neck and Neck" it is very good. Knopfler will never get all the credit he deserves.

I get to see Prine at the Lexington Opera House in Feb. Always look forward to his shows, but you are a lucky man to have seen him in such a small venue. I envy you for that.

Some of the best live music I have ever seen was Billy Joe Shaver when his son Eddie was still alive. It was amazing. For people wishing to dabble in the world of Shaver I recommend a CD called "Shaver Live at Smith's Olde Bar".

The best live show I have seen in the last two or three years was Robert Randolph and the Family Band in a venue of about 400. That was unbelievable.

Yeah... They were all good in their own ways. Maybe it would have been better phrased as "Any band Hendrix was in."

The Allman Brothers would have ruled the world if Duane were still around.

One of my favorite song lyrics from Little Feat: "Now I know just how heaven feels, when she reaches beneath that old stearing wheel"

Many of the greats still talk about how talented and under appreciated he was!
