Next year we are looking at another 9-3 type year with a much more difficult schedule than this past 2025 season. In 2027 we should have a real shot to make a playoff run though with all the talent from the 25 and 26 classes growing up and Knowles being in his 2nd season as DC. The future is very bright for our VOLS. The small % of this fanbase that want to fire coaches every time we lose a game or dont make the pĺayoffs suck balls though. They're a cancer to this site.

If you think we even sniff 9 wins, then you're just blinded by your orange tinted glasses. We will be lucky to go 7-5, more than likely 6-6. Our schedule is BRUTAL. I say we ride with what we have, get them experience and plan for 2027

We arent bringing in anybody that has more than 1 season of eligibility if we can help it IMO. Next year is gonna be a shootout between Gmac and Faizon in 2027 for the starting job. Probably get a veteran from a lower level school to come push and polish Gmac for 2026 and then be gone. Dont want to make a QB controversy where there isnt one...especially with all the money we are paying Gmac and Faizon. Thats money we can spend elsewhere...not on QB3.

I think 8-4 is probably the most likely record next year. 7-5 definitely possible with our brutal schedule. I will probably pick us 9-3 preseason anyway though for the 3rd year in a row because I am optimistic about our VOLS. Havent been right yet with 10-2 and now 8-4. Maybe next year I am finally correct.

Heupel was supposed to be a quarterback whisperer, but it looks like he recruits quarterbacks from other NCAA teams because he has no confidence in his ability to coach his own high school recruits.

KnowIes wasn't even my 1st want but, we're gonna be instantly better on defense and if we score over 50 a game, we're going to the Natty.😁

I would not be surprised to see a 4 loss SEC team make the playoffs next year. I fully expect the top teams will have no less than 2 losses.

Gone are the days of 12-0, 11-1 and maybe even 10-2.

As fans we are going to need to adjust our expectations, or we will see coaching changes for lots of SEC teams almost every year.

Coaches these days MUST work the portal - the number of teams in the playoffs that have QBs from the portal should serve as a sign that times are changing.

I feel for the high school QBs, but they are living in a time where they are going to have to compete with experienced QB's looking for a new place to play.

So 5 star QBs are gonna start going to wash St, Liberty, Troy & Colo St? I don’t think so.

Unless Peyton Manning or Casey Clausen is coming out of this portal, it won't matter who the QB is. The 7-5 prediction is me predicting WITH a Portal QB. So why not take the lumps next year and get the current QBs experience and the defense a year under Knowles and get ready for a run in 2027.

SEC should have never gone to 9game conference schedule. We arent the Big10. We don't have 3 or 4 teams a year ranked in the top 25. We have 8. Half our conference in the top25...and there are teams that finish in the bottom half who still land better recruiting classes than 12/16 Big10 that are not ranked. Talent level, roster rankings, avg. class rank...by any metric the SEC is far more talented top to bottom than the Big10. Since a schools number of losses is clearly the biggest factor in determining playoff rankings...we cut our own throats. Go look at the schedules in 26 and 27 for OSU, PSU, ORE etc. They play 2 good teams and 10 walkovers. Its silly. They can sleepwalk to 10-2 and a playoff berth. SEC schools have to play 5 or 6 schools who are ranked. Teams whose rosters are ranked top25. Yet a loss hurts an SEC team just as much as a Big10 team loss.

We cut our own damn throats and never should have done it until the playoffs are 16teams. 5 or 6 SEC teams should make the playoffs every year. Look at this year. 5 SEC teams did make the playoffs...and a 10-2 Vandy team got left out. So did Texas who went 6-2 in the SEC. Yet there are several teams in the playoffs that Vandy or Texas would beat. K.

That is not what I said - I said the QB's coming out of high school are going to have to compete with not only QBs on the team but experienced QBs that come from the portal.

Very easy for players to transfer and play the next year. In the past they had to wait a year and possibly lose that year of eligibility.

Players and coaches are going to cut their losses if it isn't working.

Glad you are not a coach or player on this team, because you can bet, they are not planning nor will be satisfied with a 7-5 record and are going to do whatever it takes to be successful.

And yes, I know there are some on this board who really really really really want a 7-5 record next year so you can start the fire the coach noise.
