4 Possible QBs from The Portal

Shut it down. Got the perfect portal QB.

TJ Finley, 6’7” and 250 lbs., is applying for a medical redshirt so he can play for his 7th school in 7 years.

Previously, he was QB1 at LSU, Auburn, the Texas State Armadillos, Western Kentucky, and Georgia State.

He also attended Tulane in early 2025 until April when he was arrested for possessing/driving a stolen pickup truck. (Lawyer says he was duped into buying a hot used vehicle online. I blame Tulane boosters for not getting Finley a suitable new ride.)

Great size, good stats, and a wealth of experience playing for 7 prior Offensive Coordinators (including 2 at Auburn).

He graduated in 2023, but seems to attract a lot of police attention. Not so sure about this one.
His season starting at TX St was solid, but that was 2023 also.

Everyone here knows we don't actually know how Faizon Brandon will turn out. We also don't know if we'll be hit by a turnip truck this afternoon.

What is your point with continuing this?
My point is simple. Stop anointing Fazion until we see what he will be. I see multiple posts about him being the QB in 27. Let's just wait and see

Have you NEVER seen or read anything about sports where a kid is drafted and is called "the future for the team?"

Do you scream at the TV or radio or magazine when you read that: "You don't know that! Stop anointing him when you don't know!"

Geez.

Minchey got beat out by a true Freshman, no thanks. If UT's current QBs can't beat him out then they are not the right guys. No way would I pay Lagway $3-4 million, which is probably what he is looking for. He was valued at 3.7, some say he is now at 1.9.
Langway isn’t going to get 3-4 million. I certainly don’t think we or many others would pay that. Maybe a lesser team with money might, I don’t see any major school paying him that.

I’m all about Sorsby. Seems to be the best fit all around. His family is here. One and done.

I wish the courts would go ahead and make the decision to cut JuCo from counting towards ineligibility. Talk about a decision that would create new revenue within the JuCo system and probably reduce a ton of injuries.

If kids are good enough to make it to starting, 2nd, 3rd string status sooner than later by going straight to college, that’s good. They can do that. If they want to go to JuCo and make less money and develop as a human being, and then come to college, they can do that. All have the increased chance of going pro.

Thing is, we are talking about 18 year olds here. Kids develop more quickly mentally and physically than others do and often benefit heavily when going to College due to this reality. Meanwhile others peak later and often end up more talented at their peaks than others who peaked early. The system doesn’t account for this offset in balance.

So when people talk about fairness in allowing 23-24 year olds to play with 18 year olds, they need to consider this very real point. Some 18 year olds are as developed as these older guys, while many are not that eventually will be. And when they are they should be serviceable as opposed to left behind and told they missed the window. The window we created, the window that makes less sense, and the window that could be expanded to benefit everyone involved.

I mean to put things into perspective, we stopped driving nails into people’s foreheads that we deemed insane decades ago. Maybe we need to make some adjustments here too 😂

And to reiterate, I think it would reduce injury by allowing the 18 year olds to enter into JuCo, help develop men and prepare them for the big stage, and create revenue via heavy interest at the JuCo level.

College athletics would see a big jump in talent in the span of about 4 years as well, and you would have fewer guys like JMac riding the line. Also, if they allowed for midseason transfers only from JuCo to the college ranks, that could help universities keep their rosters lighter.

Essentially this creates a system similar to baseball while developing young men along the way and protecting them. JuCo, Mid Major, College, Pros.
That’s what college to NFL is for. We gonna start class A, class AA, TRIPLE AAA, then college

Just when will the Qbs we have be grown up enough to play? Do you folks want to sign a portal every year denying recruits the chance to play? Why waste NIL dollars on high school kids if that's the case? My vote is to spend NIL dollars to shore up our defense and roll with what we have at the QB position.
I'm sure Indiana recruited Sorsby thinking they'd develop him but there's this new thing called the portal and he used it. He's doing it again as a matter of fact from his second school to a third school. It happens both ways now.

I’m already a little portal weary, and was trying to show humor at a QB hoping to sign with his 7th FBS program. I doubt Heupel would be interested in Finley for the reason you mentioned.

Sorsby is likely worth top dollar but outbidding TTech billionaires for his contract while his girlfriend is playing volleyball there seems a bit futile.

I'm sure we'll shoot our shot but I'm skeptical about our chances.
Thought the girlfriend was here? So TTU had the cash and the girlfriend? Stick a fork in this one.

Aguilar may be allowed another year. 50/50 there IMO. Problem solved.

If not, Faizon. 100%

Give him a trial by fire right off the bat. Peyton approves.
Tell us you don't know football without telling us. Fazion would get destroyed next year and we would be lucky to win 6 games with him
