Although this puts CJH squarely between a rock and hard place, I would take Sorsby. If Sorsby is analyzing his NFL stock right now, he'll more than likely be gone after next season thus opening up the #1 spot for the other two to compete for (and satisfying their desire for an opportunity). The Nebraska kid also sounds promising, but I'm concerned with the ripple effect with the 2 QBs that are staying as he could stay for 2 years.

Good read from Adam Sparks about 4 possible QBs that we could pursue on the portal. Brendan Sorsby from Cincy, Lagway from Gatorville, Raiola from Cornville and Minchey (TN Born) from The Irish.

We do need a QB with experience. What say you VN??

Minchey got beat out by a true Freshman, no thanks. If UT's current QBs can't beat him out then they are not the right guys. No way would I pay Lagway $3-4 million, which is probably what he is looking for. He was valued at 3.7, some say he is now at 1.9.

Sorsby also wants top dollar, so they say.

Please enlighten me. How does he imitate PH? Never watched Raiola play that much.
Everything from his hair cut and facial hair to his arm sleeves and wrist bands he imitates Mahomes. Even his body language. It's weird. I mean I used to imitate Ken Griffey Jr... but I was 10 years old.

If we recruit a top shelf QB that immediately jumps G-Mac, he probably hits the portal this year with Merk. If G-Mac doesn't start this year, the thought that Faizon is good enough to start as a redshirt freshman HAS to be on his mind.

If it's true that Faizon can start in 27, G-Mac never plays meaningful snaps at UT but likely could play elsewhere. He'd help himself by leaving.

Minchey, who of the 4 is the least talented, may be the best choice and a 2.5 man QB battle can happen. Faizon COULD be a true freshman starter but I give him a half a chance.

G-Mac and Minchey could battle it out. While that doesn't give a top shelf starter, perhaps, it balances the room.

Minchey is fine if we want someone to compete with GMac and Faizon and spend the money on defense and won't cost a ton.

If we want a proven starter, then it clearly won't be Minchey.

If it it's a 1 year QB, that isn't necessarily true. It was always a possibility that GMac would be waiting till year 3 when we had Nico at QB.

But certainly it raises the likelihood that GMac leaves.

Faizon changed G-Mac's value to UT. If we didn't get Faizon (or someone else of his caliber,) G-Mac had a clear path to the starting job.

Once we signed a "superstar" QB, G-Mac obviously saw his stock fall as the thought is: can Faizon Brandon start as a true freshman?

G-Mac became the fifth chair around a 4 seat table VERY quickly after talk of how good Faizon Brandon is started.

A mobile QB would be a good fit in this offense. Lagway might not be a terrible choice. Kind of feels like you know your reads fairly early , if its not there you cut bait running. He has the size to take some shots. Hard pressed to really compare his overall success when you had a coach with a foot out of the door for 2 seasons.

I like Sorsby as a 1 year option with Faison to take over in 2027. As I said in the other thread, Lagway could thrive here as well but Sorsby looks to be more of a sure thing
What makes you think Fazion will take over? I've seen 5 star QB not play like one. Why are some anointing Fazion? We don't know what he will be.

One never KNOWS the future but Faizon has the same hype Nico had about him. Great gifts.

There's no "sure thing" QB as Arch should show us: all the tools on paper but not a world beater even with time to grow, learn, stability in his family, etc.

One plays the odds in sports. You recruit those who look good on paper because that gives you the best chance of success.

Edit: this is how Brandon looks on paper.
