3rd place in SEC East

Just imagine it's a new season starting after Vandy. This team needs to finish first and foremost Vanderbilt. 15 practices and a fresh start, I'm not sure where we go bowling.... I would say not many teams want this draw

We should be 6 and 5. We will be 7 and 5. The team has grown as the season has progressed. The players finally bought in to the systems put in place. Bituli and Thompson returned. The QBs was held accountable and he got better. It's great to finally see progress. Thanks for a tremendous turn around Volunteers. I am very proud today.

It’s not where the boys wanna be and sure isn’t our expectations to finish 3rd. But it is refreshing to see improvement and development. Now for next year maybe it don’t take us losing to Furman to get us going!!!

Let's just steamroll Vandy by a lot and remind them that order to the conference is being restored.

Impressive turn around. I'm really happy for the players who stuck with it and came back from the tough early losses. VN may even be bearable for a while.

I know, it's not super great to be third in East, but we got to own this range and launch into the upper range of the SEC to get the good bowl game exposure and recruitment rolling. Then from there we can make runs to the SECCG game and shots into the playoff. I have always thought we would do great in a playoff.

I am still sort of worried about long term expectations. Realistically, I would just like to get back to the East being a 3 headed race between UT, GA and Florida. I’m one of those that’s been preaching this crazy talk: if the UT fanbase can just hang around, be patient and let the program truly develop under a coach’s leadership they can eventually be in the national conversation year in and year out. Frankly, to me getting back there just makes football fun again. Because we all know how it feels to sit at home the rest of the season after losing to Vandy. Sure, there’s gonna be ups and downs. But, at least for me, Pruitt has shown that he knows what it’s gonna take to right the ship. And if he has any questions he’s got an AD down the hall that’s coached a little football before. So I guess what I’m saying is....

Pruitt can do it!

3rd in the East should be our floor. Glad we aren’t in the sub cellar anymore.

Haven't posted in a while. Been busy with work and family.
It's funny how winning a couple of games will change people's perspective.
Last time I posted several people on here wanted to fire all the coaches and salt the earth and start all over next season. Aren't you glad the powers that be didn't listen to some of your fan base?
Y'all are now bowl eligible for the first time in a couple of years, your team is not at the bottom and you don't have a coach hollering about being champions of life.
CJP and staff (particularly if y'all draw a decent team in the bowl season and win that game) can show improvement to recruits and start getting more/better talent infused into your program and make more progress next season.
Congrats on the win against Missouri.

If Vols had won first 2 games we'd be 8-3 playing Vandy and a descent Bowl bid.
Actually we would probably be in the mix for the same three bowls we are now. The only difference would be a better chance at the Citrus

...knowing that we should be 8-3 right now does hurt as well.

I started to go down that road, but I’ve gotten over it. While the “you are what your record says you are” is valid, I am pleased that CJP and company have put a team on the field in year two with a chance to win five league games.

The only real difference the two OOC wins would have made is maybe going to a “better” bowl game. Otherwise, it’s all the same.

They’re getting better but still have a ways to go to legitimately compete with the top of the SEC. That fact is the same at 7-5 or 9-3.

No one gets a free pass for those losses, but the only thing they hurt was pride. Hopefully, they learned something from it about how to better prepare for the beginning of the season.

NO....Not just No...but H*LL NO.!!
If all ya want is a better W/L record...maybe Tennessee should just pull out of the S.E.C.. Perhaps we could find a home in the MidAmerican Conference and try our hand at pounding Akron or Ball State into submission..??
I guess you like seeing the Vols get pounded every year. Why do you think that Georgia and UF play them on a rotation basis?

We will likely end up with the 5th best record in the SEC behind LSU/Bama/UGA/UF

In advance.. I realize this is a little lame, but bear with me.

If we beat Vandy, and if Bama loses to Auburn..

Tennessee's Record in the SECe: 4-2
Alabama's Record in the SECw: 4-2

We didn't do as good in our cross conf games, so it's a bit apples and oranges but still has a nice ring to it.

In the mix for the same pool of 6 bowls (Music City, Gator, Outback, Liberty, Belk, and Texas Bowls) but yes. And we would presumably be the favorite for the Citrus Bowl at 9-3.
