3rd place in SEC East

On October 6th of this year, the UT Football team was 1-4. Looking at the remaining games, not many of us could find 3 more wins, given the way we had played to that point.

49 days later, the UT Football team is 6-5. 7-5 is very possible against an inferior Vandy team. A 7-5 finish should / could land the Vols in a respectable bowl game. Bowl games tend to pay dividends in both recruiting and player development for the coming season.

Somehow, some way, this staff and team turned the RMS Titanic into the USS Tennessee. One hit an iceberg and sank. The other got the hell shot out of it at Pearl Harbor, but refitted, regrouped, reloaded, and went on to fight and help defeat the enemy that wounded her at the very beginning.

Personally, I could not be prouder of this team, or any prouder to be a Vol fan right now.

Go Vols.

Next week with a win over Vandy, Bama beating Auburn and LSU beating A&M...
The Vols at 5-3 would be solo 5th in the SEC.
Possible SEC final regular season rankings:
1. LSU 8-0
2. UGA 7-1
T2. Bama 7-1
4. UF 6-2
5. UT 5-3
6. Auburn 4-4
7. A&M 4-4

I seen some place on TV earlier that if that Scenario played out that it was very possible that Tenn would get a New Years day bowl

9-3 is very possible for the 2020 Tennessee Vols
I would love that but I was saying 9-3 and possible 10-2 this year because we had the schedule this year to do it easily to be honest.
Next year I'm just not sure but for right now I'm just going to relax and enjoy the fact that we're going Bowling and that means we get to have a Bowl tailgate/party at work :D

We have Arkansas next year so I would say 8-4 would be possible. Still don't think we will be good enough to beat Alabama, Florida, Georiga, or Oklahoma.

If Vols had won first 2 games we'd be 8-3 playing Vandy and a descent Bowl bid.
I am not sure. I really think it took the beginning of the season and the three losses (GA St, BYU, UF) for the coaches to have the meeting, get players buy-in, and get the transfers out of the locker room. Team came together at that point. Not sure all the improvement, coming together, and wind would have followed had we started 3-1.

We are so close to being back I can smell it. We aren't there yet! But, WE WILL BE SOON! We will compete for the EAST next year! GO VOLS

It will be deemed an upset but I think we clip the Okies next season. They will be playing an untried redshirt freshman QB, talented true, but he's not seen the speed of a an actual game nor a true SEC defense that will have tons of time to plan for his start against us.

Overall in SEC we are probably 7th out of 14 teams. Yay finally back to being able to celebrate mediocrity. šŸ†

However nobody ought be popping bottles and celebrating being in third place in the SEC East, that sucks. 2nd place is first loser, wth you think 3rd place is?

Good grief, like its a big fing deal anyway.

I may have a damn party just to trigger everyone that can't be excited about heading in the right direction. Its not just about being in 3rd.

Good grief, with what we've been through, a turn around like the Vols have had ... Deserves some champagne & party.... Lol
Some of these posters comments makes me think.... Did these fans watch or pay attention to the desaster of a start we had?....

Yea, I get what they're saying and agree to an extent. Obviously that's not where we want to be next year and in the future, but I'm into enjoying the ride.

I'm curious, when something bad happens in your life do you just quit and never move forward or do you learn from it and move on? When bad stuff happens good people learn from it and move forward trying to improve each day. You've got a negative view of our program.

With a solid QB starter we might have a chance to knockout OU early in the season. We have a rebuilding Bama at home with a new QB and new receivers and UGA late in the season where they tend to run out of gas. So we have favorable chance to knock off a couple of those teams. Unfortunately we are curse against the Gators and that's a loss for me.

It's a little early for me to predict next year. We have more hope than a month ago, that's for sure. But the Vanderbilt result, the bowl game result, and recruiting results will tell a lot.

Is locked in. Not a bad progress indicator. Lots to do, a long way to go, but one stat no one can deny. In addition, if we beat Vanderbilt, we will have beat all the teams below us, so completely legit.

Other than Georgia and Florida the rest of the SEC East is garbage.
Vols don’t have a good win over anyone with a winning record this season.

It's weird how perspectives can change during the course of a season. After the first four games,I didn't think the season could end soon enough. It was painful watching the team get manhandled. Now, I hate to see the season end. The team is fun to watch and the season seemed to go by in the blink of an eye.

A heck a lot better, but there sure are a lot of sorry teams in the s.e.c. Heck we are really only worse than these teams plus LSU, bama, Auburn, and maybe a&m. Man I wished we had won those first two games, but we didn’t and are still mediocre at best.
