35-30…

We had 2 costly false starts late in the game. The one after we got the turnover and the one as we were trying to center the GW fg.

No doubt both played into the following play calls.

we get a huge strip sack fumble and we’re up 35-30 and start 1st and 15. Three straight runs up the middle and field goal. I was complaining and saying right there we should’ve went for the kill and unfortunately I was right.

The only thing I question Heupel on for sure. Other than that, amazing offensive performance.

It was definitely a head scratcher going conservative after that turnover.

No doubt should have taken at least one shot there, as we were already in FG range. Josh kind of said as much after the game, and you could see his frustration after the 3rd down play.

I had much more of a problem with him not trusting the offense to run one more play after the last false start, center the ball, and keep Max in rhythm. Instead, just sending him out after the false start had everything off kilter. In that spot, they were already in FG range, it was just a matter of getting the ball where the kicker wants it and keeping him in rhythm. Should've still made the kick, but it just made his job harder with all that pressure.

Heupel had a deer in the headlight look toward the end of the game. Think the moment got to him. Team is a reflection of the coach.

Sorry man, I know you need to be the 'glass half empty' guy, but that's an asinine, ignorant take. Josh made a couple of bad decisions, but this team played their asses off and at no time looked like 'deer in the headlights'.

After the penalty it was a 56 yard field goal. UT needed a few yards to greatly increase the odds at that point of going up 38-30. A sack or a holding penalty and getting an 8 point lead becomes far more difficult. Running for 5-10 yards makes the field goal much more likely.

Plus a possible 2 for 1 possession scenario was in play by keeping the clock moving.

The defense could also use the extra rest. Georgia destroyed UT on time of possession.

It was a chess match. The odds were greatly in UT’s favor when the field goal made it 38-30 with about 6 minutes left. Georgia made the plays (especially the TD on 4th down plus the 2-point conversion). Tennessee couldn’t (missed FG, illegal procedure, giving up the TD and the 2 points).
