300

Saw 300 today. It actually lived up to the hype for me. However, Blacksnake Moan was a better film.

I dunno why, but it surprises me you liked 300 as much as you did.

I was actually surprised myself. Part of it was expectation. I know this will sound cheesy but the running theme of freedom vs tyranny was extremely well developed in the dialogue. I found it very relative our mordern day struggle with tyranny. The action in the film did not seem overwhelming or forced, and I found the acting to be quite good.

I think you nailed it with expectation. I wanted this movie to be spectacular and to me it was not.

I also enjoyed the why we fight theme, but like I said previously, I got annoyed with the small boobies.

:salute:

That is the difference. I don't expect much from these epics, so if they even decent I am pleasantly surprised.

The Kingdom of Heaven was the last to surprise me.

I loved Kingdom of Heaven, but I did not expect much out of it.

It was the same with Batman Begins and Casino Royale, I just wanted the producers not to screw it up and either are two are my favorites.

It is like the last two Lord of the Rings movies. I really did not care for either because of my expectation level.

(Not to mention how weak Gondor was made out to be.)

Quite possibly one of the best movies made on the subject of ancient fights. It blew Troy and Colin Farrell's movie away

Thoughts?

Movies for entertainment. Books for education. Questioning someone's intelligence without meeting them shows alot about someone's fortitude.
Maybe I should question your intelligence for the use of the word "fortitude".

fortitude:mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously

saw "300" today and it's not bad. although I do wish I hadn't watched a History Channel documentary on the Spartans last night.
