Was there...18...worked as a supervisor in the "Family Fun Fair" area shown in the pic...

And "sampled" young ladies from various cultures for 6 months. I STILL miss those Aussie chicks....

Thanks for the mammories..

Oh...and I remember Burying The Bear that year...helped take that South goal post down Cumberland...

After the game then all the hoopla, my then girlfriend calls me at about 3:00am. I hear all this noise and its people still yelling and screaming on the strip. Go to my 1510 College Math class and the GA teaching couldnt talk from lack of a voice.

Then that dumb a Johnny Majors loses to Ga Tech the very next week.

"Energy EXPO"

The Japan pavillion was one of my favorites. I loved all the "technology". I now am posting on a phone that has exponentially more power than the vast majority of all the spacecrafts with which we have sent men into orbit. Doesn't seem quite as 'techy' now.

Underappreciated post, imo. I'm sure it gets quite lonely in the outback. Gotta make hay while the sun is shining I guess.

One of my cousins' wife was from Gordo, AL and a big bama fan. I got to repay some smack talk after that game. I didn't get even- I got ahead.

That was back when the grade school I attended was still open, I have been a Vol for Life ever since I was in grade school.. OREBANK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in East Tennessee closed in the late 80's and our "nickname" was the Volunteers but our colors were Baby Blue instead of Orange but we were still the VOLS!!! Just wondering are there any other schools in Tennessee who used the Vols for their nickname???

Orebank Elementary School Alumni

So, this was in Sullivan County? We also had an Orebank in western Greene County.

LOL…yes I can’t recall the name…I only ate there maybe 100 times….very old school but unique for Knoxville at the time….not a chain, cinder block building, shut down a while because of a fire….great food…

Just a little west of the L&N tavern. First place I ever had sopapillas with honey.

This mex place I remember, but am struggling to recall where the chinese place was?

Was the Mexican place El or Los Charro? This is driving me nuts.

Geez, it was actually in color when I was there. Would've been exactly 30 yrs ago this week. Dang. I was 13 and stayed with my Aunt and Uncle in Knoxville for about two week at the end of July to first of August. They had passes and took me to the Fair a couple of times. The things I remember most was going to the Japanese exhibition where we waited in line to watch some machine/robot paint us a Japanese character on paper and riding the ferris wheel trying to peek inside Neyland once we got to the top.

I also remember going to the Patriots - Steelers preseason game in Neyland that August too, which was the first time I ever watched a game in the stadium. It would be 3 years later in '85 (UCLA) before I finally attended my first UT game.

Los Charro...I think that was it….and thanks…it was wearing me out too…..

It and the Chinese place were very unique and popular….can’t believe more on here weren’t familiar with them…or perhaps they aren’t old enough to recall…

I think that's the name as well. And yes, there are a lot of youngins on here. I'm almost 40 and barely remember it.

Hawkeye's was another great place.
