'30 TN QB Marshall Manning

Somewhere deep under Neyland, the prophecy reads: “From the mighty forehead of Peyton shall come a son, and his name shall be Marshall. He will wear the orange and restore the kingdom.” As he takes the field, the wind will hum Rocky Top, and Bama fans will weep into their houndstooth. Even 89-year-old Nick Saban will gaze upon him and whisper, “He was the chosen one.”

I hate to be a downer here, but I seriously doubt the kid goes to Tennessee. Peyton didn’t go to Ole Miss in part because he wanted to forge his own path. Arch didn’t consider Tennessee or Ole Miss. The family is well aware of the shadow Peyton casts at Tennessee.

I think he’ll go somewhere else and I don’t blame him.

Not saying your are wrong about anything but I’ve always thought Ole Miss Being the 2nd worst team in the SEC and being placed on sanctions in the mid 90s were a big part of Peyton not going to Ole miss. Also had Cooper Made it to College I would be willing to bet Peyton would of been a Reb but his Injury kinda made him more willing look elsewhere

As for Arch I don’t think the Manning’s are the biggest Kiffen fans (purely based on speculation and stuff I’ve heard from people over the years so take it with a grain of salt ) and Idk why nothing really got going between UT and Arch. I will say Josh Seems to lock in on a QB early and Push all his chips in and that just happened to be Nico that class.

Obviously not saying Marshall ends up here but I think there’s going to be more to it than Just him wanting to do his own thing.

UT and arch were never a match because when his recruitment got going was when the Pruitt and recruiting violations were going on, and Heup went after Nico and Donte Moore instead, I think because of Scheme fit. I genuinely dont know if Marshall will be a Vol, because Peyton did joke with Kirby about recruiting his son in ‘21, but Peyton does bleed orange and Marshall has been around the vols a lot

Totally agree. After what his dad accomplished here and in the NFL the pressure might be too much for the kid. I seriously doubt he will go to Knoxville

Actually. I think he ends up at Tennessee.

He’s doing the day school but he will eventually play for Baylor and Baylor has never been stronger than they are now.

Yeah Peyton has a huge legacy at Tennessee but his legacy as an NFL QB is even BIGGER.
So is Marshall going to hide from the NFL one day?

Marshall will be a VOL

Peyton has gotten the chance to know Heupel.
Many occasions they have done public events together.

Peyton has always been supportive of UT coaches for the most part but he genuinely likes Heupel, and trusts his football psychology if you will.

Marshall playing at Baylor allows him to play HS ball in Big Orange Country but also play some of the best HS football at any level. Baylor and McCallie both play tremendous HS schedules and are top tier institutions.

There are other good schools all over America. Peyton can live wherever he wants. He’s choosing to let him play in Tennessee.

You want to make the case that Marshall wants to be his own man. His name is Marshall. He’s been his own person all of his life! This little dude wants to be a VOL.

That’s as plain as day to me….

That's awesome!

And watch out for kids from- not just Canada- but Georgia and kids all over from Tennessee trying to get on Baylors roster the next few seasons.
As a McCallie supporter... I must sadly agree. The era of McCallie dominance may have to endure a brief eclipse.

I remember Marshall attending summer camp at McCallie back when he was a young tyke. And when Peyton was at Indy, in the summers (while staying with his in-law grandparents, IIRC) he would come work out in McCallie's weight room, then take the field with some NFL receivers.

The Mannings are such good people. Always thinking of others. I'm sure they just felt sorry for Baylor...

Does Peyton still have a house in Chattanooga? I thought his spread there was close to The Honors course which is, from the map, well across town from the Baylor School campus. I'm sure they board kids there like McCallie, which I'm familiar with, does.

It's interesting that Marshall isn't going to Isidore Newman where they have experience dealing with the inevitable hype and keeping it out of the school and likely every Manning relative has a residence big enough to let Marshall stay or get away.

Then again Chattanooga is reasonably close to UT, Vandy, GA, Bama, GA Tech, etc.

Maybe the kid learned to rock climb in CO?

Tennessee's lack of a state tax (while maintaining a surplus in its budget) and family-valuing sensibilities is attracting affluent families from all over the world right now. Peyton's investment in the failed Nashville WNBA franchise bid might also reflect a decision to make Tennessee home for many positive reasons.
