As opposed to giving up a pick 6 that quite honestly were not built to overcome? The chasing points nonsense in the closing seconds of the first half and going for two early 3rd qtr put a foot on our neck that we just weren't able to overcome. I'm all behind our coach don't get me wrong. He made calls tonight that made the hole we were in harder to get out of.

I can respect that. I go one further and kick the FG. Most likely we're down 6 at the half. Then we stopped them on their first drive of the 2nd half. Shoulda could I still believe in and want JH just my opinion on how things played out last night

The problem was in fact the coach… he botched time yet again. Had he used a TO at 25 seconds we get to take two shots into the end zone and then kick the FG you mention. I agree 100%. The go for 2 was ridiculous at that time. The ridiculous play call at the end of the 1st dug the hole that kept getting deeper.

Ole Miss is the exact same as us except they haven't played Bama... we had a better game vs GA than Ole Miss did....and Kiffin has never even beaten a ranked team on the road

If you look at our two common opponents(Arky and Georgia), we have performed slightly better both offensively and defensively than Ole Miss.

I don’t believe this team is down psychologically. They fought till the end. We have a good team. Missed field goal and terrible play at end of half. SEC is brutal. Miss st. Arkansas look at the scores. There are no gimmies anymore. GBO. How boring for OSU type schools not one fun game left. I don’t even think a ranked team left, I may be wrong. We have great ranked teams left to play that make it fun every weekend. We have a chance but it’ll be tough!!!

We’ll beat Oklahoma and Vanderbilt at home. I wish I could say the same about Florida on the road but this is Tennessee, so I’ll believe we win that one when we actually do.

IMHO…that was an obvious field goal situation. No idea why Coach Heupel didn’t just “ take the three” and go into halftime. 🙁

I'll probably get run out of town, but I have to say that making the playoffs last year was really a disappointment for me. Of course, had they won the game, it would have been great, but because they played so early (as compared to the bowls) and lost, they were completely out of the college football discussion altogether during the playoffs and the remainder of the bowl season. It sucked.

We’re not losing 3 more games! We can win out. Despite some saying we can’t improve that is hogwash. Many of our mistakes are correctable. Bama didn’t physically dominate us. Penalties,drops and fundamental open field tackling along with a few bad calls and an ill advised throw did. If one looked at the stats, except for the crucial turnover one would have thought we won. GBO Things are fixable if the coaches and players actually fix them and quit talking about fixing them. A bunch of Pre snap penalties and a bunch of drops aren’t acceptable and they are fixable. GBO

I actually did say and think 10-2 if the Qb Play was up to standard. The path to getting there is different than I expected . I thought we would be able to rely on the defense and lean on the run game, while protecting Aguilar if needed. The opposite is true. We can’t rely on the defense because our top 2 corners are out (this is huge difference maker in our season and needs to be acknowledged) and our linebackers and safeties continue to be an issue. Our offense is very good, even though this past weekend was poor on many different fronts. There’s a weird dynamic going on where Heupel has done a tremendous job of getting Aguilar to play at a very high level in such a short period of time, but I feel this has been his worst year of in game coaching. I honestly think this past Saturday was his worst game as a Tennessee coach. I also think he is an incredibly competitive guy, who will take the right steps to get better. He’s played at a high level, he’s coached at a high level and I’m sure no one is more critical of him than himself. He’s done enough for me that I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. Despite what some of the brilliant prognosticators and soothsayers say on here I’m gonna stand by my 10-2. I think we can get the job done. We gotta refocus and play fundamental ball. The big mistakes we saw on Saturday get that much bigger when you’re not doing the little things right and we made plenty of both, but were still in it.

Coulda Shoulda but if it's 16-10 and the start of the 2nd half plays out the way it did we're up 17-16 in the 3rd quarter.
