Why do you have faith in these message board warrior(experts)? They say that the recruiting services don't know jack, then they quote 247 saying that these are all underrated players who will get a bump. I don't understand everything that is going on with these posters. So they watched some film?

We have had 3 winning seasons since 2005 with 1 of them being 7-6 so I'd say we're doing pretty good recruiting wise. If your realistic expectation is anything over 6 wins this year then you're just setting yourself up for heartbreak

I'm hoping this response was meant for someone else. If not, you've confirmed that you are trolling for responses and just looking for an argument. I don't put a lot of stock in so called experts. And I personally don't care about convincing some of our nancy fans that Butch has this recruiting class under control. That's why I said this is football forum material. It fits the mantra of that forum more.

I thought this would be a beattiefeathers thread. Anyway star gazing right now isn't important at all. Some of these guys will probably pick up a higher ranking during their senior season.

He is trolling. Same old story every time a 3 star commits. Some guy comes up with a new thread before doing their research. They look at one site and don't bother to see what the other sites think of them. It's been explained. He cried about a long snapper being a 2 star I mean if that's not reaching I don't know what is. He apparently hasn't heard there is more than Rivals and that rivals isn't even the top site anymore

You really don't know about any recruit until his career is over. Some reach their potential, some exceed their potential and some disappoint. Butch IMO is the man to motivate individuals to exceed and succeed. I will trust him to get the right personnel.

Of course there's more 3 stars. They vastly outnumber the highly rated ones.

I'm not saying 3 stars aren't successful; they absolutely are. Bringing up a couple players to make an argument for the "star debate" doesn't work though.

I just think the whole star thing is flawed. They change them thousands of times during and after. I know a couple of players won't debunk the theory, but these guys who rate admit all the time they don't evaluate more than x amount of players. There are a few guys in the press who are worth listening to like Lukinbill, but most of the people who "evaluate" are no better than the dudes on VN.

I look at offers and tape personally. I wish I had a good nonmobile connection so I could watch and scout.

But if you will look a lot of them are 4 stars on other sites, these kids can play and by the way we jumped to 7th in the latest rankings.:rock: Wait till the big DL start jumping on board a couple just might have a 5 star beside his name that will make up for the 5.7 and 5.8 that will be 4 stars by NSD, hang in there:dance2: we are on our way back to the top.

Worrying about a 3 star with offers from Kent St or MTSU only type offers is understandable.

Crying about getting a 3 star LB over Fla, LSU and UGA is ridiculous.not too mention he has a 4 star DT that the OP considers a 3 star cuz of Rivals and has a 5 star TE in 2016 class as a teammate and a nice pipeline to start.

Crying about a 2 star on rivals that is a 4 star on every other site and you beat out Bama for is ridiculous.

Crying about a 3 star DT in rivals that is a 4 star on 247 with offers from MS ST, UNC, Miami etc is ridiculous. Not too mention he has the same 5 star TE for 2016 as a teammate and that a heck if a school to get a pipeline with as mentioned with our beast LB mentioned above.

Our 3 star RB had offers from schools that know RBs in arky, Wisconsin and Ga tech

That 2 star long snapper was set to go to auburn on scholly until tn offered.

We are taking :rock: them from bama and ohio states of the world not the MTSU and vandys and app.states of the world we are beating the elite programs for these kids.

Regardless that is a very skewed analysis of star rating and draft position and not a good statistical analysis of the draft.

The problem though is that most of the antagonistic posts in this and other threads are the old "well CBJ is the coach and he is much better at evaluating talent than anyone on this board" or "these are system guys" or "in time they will get a star bump" coupled with "you're an idiot" or "dumb thread is dumb" etc, etc etc - posts....

It has become increasingly difficult to offer a contrary opinion on VolNation or to question the recruiting of a certain player over another...

Your post is a prime example of why I do not log on to Volnation much anymore. I try to come on a get some highlights to all the good things going on now with Tennessee football and run into this!

That 2* QB was out last season with an injury. We fought it out with Alabama to get that 2* QB. If stars are the limit of your ability to draw a logical conclusion, check back in December when he is a 4* QB:thumbsup:
